New car, need suggestions.
Sunday, August 21, 2005 10:08 PM
Alright, so today was a sad day. My sister rolled my old baby (97 cavi) and now it appears that I must sell my '00 cavi to her, and get a new car. I'm kinda suck between a couple choices here, so I'm wondering if anyone can give me some insight or advice on what to and what not to buy. Here are the ones I've been looking at:

Saturn ION Redline
Chevy Cobalt SS
Hundyai Tiburon GT
Toyota Celica GT-S
Acura RSX Type S

So, that's what I've come up with so far. I'm trying to stick with a 4 cylander or a good MPG V6, if any of you have a suggestion other than what i've listed here, please mention it. Otherwise, votes are now being taken.

Out of that list, I'd say go for the Tiburon GT V6. You won't be dissapointed!!

I don't HAVE to sell it to her, but she doesn't really have any money to buy another one, so I figure I can give my car to her and she can pay me back later.

So far:
Tiburon GT - 1
RSX-S - 1
Cobalt SS - 1

Keep the votes comming!

That's nice of you.

My vote would be for the RSX Type S. I have two friends, one has the non type s and the other has the type s and both are fun to drive and drive in.

Have a good one,
Justin

The RSX is sweet but since the Cobalt will drive rings around it I'd say go with the SS.

So here's the tally so far:

Tiburon GT - 1
RSX-S - 3
Cobalt SS - 2
Golf GTI 1.8T - 1

No love for the celica or the ion yet!

Cobalt SS. I REALLY like the looks of the Cobalt's. I need to make my way down to the dealership and drive one. I think the Cobalt beats the RSX in the looks dept. RSX-S is my 2nd choice.

What about a WRX? Should be around the same price range. Used?

you know what you should get?

a 2001 Corolla S in Impulse red. they're hot. even better with a drop, CF hood, TRD lip kit, and aftermarket wheels. and i even happen to know someone who's selling theirs...isn't that great? let me know when you're ready to buy it.

I'd go with the Cobalt SS w/SC. It will kill an RSX-S in the 1/4 (by .5 sec stock vs stock), and it'll keep up in the twisties... Plus, a little bit of tuning and a smaller compressor wheel (IIRC GMPP or GMSP sells a Colorado compressor wheel that is smaller to compensate higher blower speeds for lower air pressure) and you'll do very nicely.

Personally, I'd take the Cobalt over the other choices just because of the S/C and total package is pretty much whoopign the rest.

Unless, that is, you want the 2001 Corolla S in impulse Red.

His list consists of sporty coupes. Sorry, a Crapolla doesn't fit into that list.

As for me, you can put a -1 down for the Cellica. Its not worth the money.

My list, in order I'd pick them:
1. Cobalt SS
2. Tiburon V6
3. Acura RSX

Any of those 3 would be a good choice though.

well I wouldn't call .5seconds a killing.. I like to see allot
of blood when murderin is to be had. I'd call that a gentle
nibble, or an itchy sting.

But seriously. those are ALL great choices... and every
car has its good and bad. the cobalt is fresh. the rsx is
refined. celica is light and handles great. the tiburon is
well rounded.

BUT...

...I need to go back the main point in this thread. Why
would you give your sister your cavalier... hasn't she
destroyed enough cavaliers already... If I had a sis like
that -- I'd buy her a bumper car, and a neck brace.
