I really dont know any about Mustangs. So if some one can help me out it would be greatly appreciated.
Okay the car is a 1973 mustang convertable, 83,000 original miles, 351 Cleveland engine, automatic trans. He is looking for $12,500 USD. The body has been totally restored with a new rag top. As far as the interior it needs to be redone. I know its hard with out pics. I will try to get some.
Is that way over priced or is it correctly priced. Not that I want to buy. I just want to know if its a good deal? My neigbohor is really intrested but he doesnt know much about cars (neither do I, at least mustangs). So I just want to be able to give him some advice.

That price is awesome if the car runs and is restored, grab that sucker up man. We have a 71 Mustang with a 351 cleveland in it, awesome car
I dunno what 73's go for. Sounds a bit high but then again hard to say without knowing the overall condition I suppose. For 9-10k you can get a 65-68 with very little problems and have alot less headaches when it comes to finding parts (the 71-73's) are alot harder to find parts for (body work wise of course)

Well, 1973 was the last year of the real Mustang, until 2005, but that's beside the point.
As far as 1973 Mustangs go, there are a few key items that make it different:
- Only year for urethane body colored front bumper, and almost impossible to find one in good shape, as they're not reproduced yet, as far as I know. Last one I seen on eBay went for $400
- Only year for those front fenders, they're different than the '71 & '72 fenders because of the bumper. They run about $600 for a pair of aftermarket ones
Also, be sure to take note on the following points:
- Check for rust around the rear taillight panel and quarter panel moldings where the convertible top is stashed.
-You can get a complete interior kit for these from a number of Mustang specialty stores on the internet, expect to pay $600 and up for a complete kit.
-If it has the original clock in the center console, it probably doesn't work. My friend's grandpa bought his brand new in '73, and the clock quit working a year after he bought the car, a new quartz clock with upgraded internals and OEM look will run about $60.
-Wiring on these early cars can be finicky, a complete replacement wiring harness is about $400
-Check for bondo in the rear quarter panels, especially behind the rear wheels.
-Floor pands do tend to rust out on these, but not any more common than on any other car from this era. Replacements are usually $150 a pair. If the subframes are rusted out, pass on it, because the structual integrity on the car has been severely compromised.
And on another note, the 351 was available with 2 and 4 bbl carbs. The engine blocks are identical, but the heads and intake are different. If the car is a 2 bbl, don't pay more than $10K, since the interior is not up to par. If it's a 4 bbl, snap it up, the 4 bbl models are hard to find (especially in 1972 and 73).
Also, 351 Windsors are a helluva lot better than Clevelands. Much stronger top-end and better oiling are the main reasons.

i have a 66 stang which is the a first gen stang. remember to check the floor panels, wheel wells, and the cowel vent for rust. most people just paint over rust in the cowel vent because its almost impossible to fix.
