Hyundai and Kia are better than what they are percieved to be. They've brought up their standards from the Pony.

That was the thing I was looking at too, quite bit on the heavy side. The car looks pretty nice though, I saw it featured in one of the Hyundai commercials the other night.
Have a good one,
Justin
they are very nice, but i like the current sonatas better. these new ones look too much like an accord. the current ones don't look like anything out there, which is why i like them so much.
as far as the curb weight, that's about what a grand prix GTP goes (actually they are a little heavier), and with the same horsepower they perform alright, i guess
Sonata isn't meant to be a speeder, it's a Sedan.

not impressive in a car that weighs 3400lbs
1989 Turbo Trans Am #82, 2007 Cobalt SS G85
Grand Am Matt hit the nail on the head:
Despite the 240hp, the Sonata isn't intended to be a fast car.
My guess is that they dropped a 3.3 V6 into it because to drive anything less in a car that heavy would be a disappointing experience.
If what Jinxed said is true, I'd be excited to see the same engine in a RWD Tiburon.
I love when people like to say things like "it's still a Hyundai". Anyone who still talks like that either:
a) Hasn't driven a Hyundai in the past 5 years
b) Has no clue what they're talking about & likes to blow smoke out of their ass.

No longer contend on messing around with RSXs & Celicas, Hyundai is now looking at RX-8, 350Z and Mustang GT.
2007 Tiburon (to be released next year) will most likely be powered by their 3.8L V6 making at least 265HP (that is the spec used in Azera sedan, but will probably be tuned for more).
Design will be heavily based on the HCD-8 concept car.

That Tiburon will be sweet!
yes the sonota is a sedan. but what is wrogn with wanting a decently powered sedan that looks and acts sporty?
and omg if they REALLY do use the HCD-8 design that will be the best looking car imo in production right nwo that isnt a supercar.
pure sex with that car.
