honda's axles
Saturday, May 28, 2005 9:27 PM
I'm not sure what's going on lately, in the past month i've changed 12 single axles on various hondas with the crazy looking "double wishbone" front suspension. some were civics, some accords, some got two new axles, some just got one. disgusting job too, the boots like exploded in all of them, so as soon as you take the wheel off your hands are deep in cv grease.

just wondering if anyone else out there is wondering the same thing.

Probably just coincidence. I know sometimes at work it seems like i'm doing a fuel sending unit on every vehicle that comes in, or tie rod ends. Just works out that way sometimes.

ok, not crazy looking, but about as nesassary as needing a slide hammer to take the rotors off of the hub on some of these dirtbags. probably as effective as having screws through the rotor / drum into the hub, and as smart as putting a catalytic converter three inches away from the head. gotta love those high effiency 70 hp. 1.5 litres of fury

Slid hammer is only for 90-97 Accord thats it. & 70hp is the low model of all civic's & not as nearly abundent as the higher end one & its mean for low cost economy. 54mpg & not to many owners are complaining. An axle in a Civic is a 10-15min job.

The slide hammer for the rotor is the 4th gen 90-93 accord's and probually the worst design honda has ever made, the cat is there for gas mileage what the car was desinged for as well as low emissions swap on an ex mani and gain 10hp, the wishbone suspension is great and why many people love honda suspension.

Well, an 89 accord lx came in today, 2 busted cv's one dry and one on it's way out. I could see the quality though, it was ticking exactly like a swiss watch.

hmm maybe the car was mistreated or just a turd. I have a blue 88 Accord LX, & its prolly the smoothest running car ive had yet, It does have busted CV boots though, but @!#$ what do you expect being that their the original axles that are 17 years old with 190,000miles on them.
