I just wrecked my Cav Z24 up in the mountains. I loved it. So now I need to look for another decent car thats 4-5k. Any suggestions?

Deck: Alpine IVA-D900 in-dash dvd
Amp #1: Xtant 604x
Amp #2: Xtant 1001dx
Front Speakers: Alpine Type-X SPX-177A 6-1/2" Component 2-Way
Rear Speakers: Alpine Type-R Coaxial 6" x 9" 2-Way Speaker
Subs: (2) Alpine Type-R SWR-1241 12"
For that price it won't be new so what are you looking for age and mileage wise? When it comes to used cars you can always get lucky and find a good deal I know a couple people who got decent car off old people who could not drive anymore.

another Z24? or an EF or EG Civic. or use the 4 or 5k as a down payment on something just a bit newer. a used civic, corrola, celica. but really for that much money nothing will match the fun factor of your Z24. you'll get good reliable transportation. but if your looking for something like your Z than look no further than another Z. try autotrader.com and look for Cavalier coupes from 1996 to 1999. you should find one (Z24) in that range for 4 to 5 grand
For $4995, you can get yourself a new 2005 Kia Rio (at least you can over here
)
^^^^^^
You can also pay a group of hobos $5000 to beat you up doesn't make it a good idea.

Both are good choices. The stock motor in a 240 isn't as bad as people make it out to be. You can have a lot of fun in it. As for the LS motor if you read any of my other post you'll know i'm a freak on the LS-Vtec so the Integra is a good choice too. Responds really well to mods.
yes, my one friend bought a 94 integra about 6 months ago for $4000. it has 85,000 miles on it. the paint was in crappy shape, and i think he paid a little too much for it, but i'm almost certain you could find one that looked better for the same price
What are you looking for?
reliable, fun, fast?
Could probaly get another nice cavy for 5 grand.
Oh BTW juiceddsm, he could get a 2g for that kinda money =P
i paid 3900 for my last 2g gst.

if i had 4-5k id get a 240sx and swap a sr20, or rb26 in that bad boy, but it sounds like you need a car to drive. Id say DSM, but they break alot, and there are many other cars with potential. All in all, id have to say get a mid 90's 240sx and get a sr20

Wow, DSMs un-reliable....yeah if you beat the living @!#$ out of it and drive it like a moron...which most people would...my DSM on the other hand, i drive it nice, dont really beat on it like most DSM owners and ive had Zero probs in the time ive owned it....but i would go for the 240, ive got one, and the Fires prob ganna get sold so i can dump cash money into my 240...if you look, you could prob find a 240 with the SR20 already swapped in for 5000. or find a AWD DSM, do some basics maint. to it, and dont beat the @!#$ out of it and youll be fine.

RB26 in a 240 for under $5k? Good luck, and be ready to cut some corners. The engine and trans will set you back around $2500 or more. The car is going to be near $1000 unless it's a real junker. The conversion kit is another grand. So you're already at $4500...and that's before the cost of labor and the downtime that you'll be without the car.
Anyway, before you decide what to buy, think of everything you want out of the car. Do you just want to go fast for cheap? Buy a Turbo DSM, 3rd Gen F-body or a Fox Body Mustang. Want something that's going to handle like a champ? Look into a Miata, FC RX-7, or a Civic hatchback. Maybe you want something sporty, but practical. How about an Impreza 2.5RS, 2nd gen Protege, VW Jetta? Or you could go with something that's just basic transportation with some performance potential, like a Volvo, Focus, or another J-Body.
