My brother-in-laws nephew has 2 GN's, an '84 & '86. I wish I had an extra $1500 laying around, because he is selling it to a guy I work with for that. It does need bumper fillers, some interior work, and paint. I kind of wish I hadn't of seen this thread, because I had almost gotten my mind off of it.
ecofire - how much for it?
grrquack.
I have to ask ...............it's my friends extra motor for his Buick Regal GS.He sold the car and got a GTO so he doesn't need it anymore.
I'll call him soon and let you know.

i dont think ive heard of someone doing this swap before and it should be interesting to see
potent too
thankya...heh.
was just trying to figure out what "interesting" meant - it could be taken either negatively or positively.
as a sidenote - someone i know has already done a GN swap into an FB...he's got it pretty fast at this point(don't know real numbers, never bothered to ask). i figure if it can be done in an FB, which is smaller, then it can definitely be done in an FC
grrquack.
one question.................can I drive it when ur done?
I ain't callin u a gold digga,but you ain't messin wit a broke cracka
heheh...that depends on your driving record
though, since this WILL be on the track(and i'm no good at launching...) you can try your hand at it. just don't run her into a wall

Are the motors from GN's all that common? I woulda thought they would be somewhat hard to find. If not I'm surprised they haven't been put in all sorts of cars.

well, one can always get their hands on a crate motor...but it wouldn't be from GM.

A original Gn motor itself is pretty rare. You can find 3.8L's all day long. They used the basic block for nearly 25years.You could take a n/a 3.8 and build it to make crazy power.
I havn't talked to my friend yet.................but I will alert him today just for you.

The 3.8's in the GN's weren't the same as the NA ones were they? Considering the power that the GN's motor can handle I'd guess the entire bottom end is different at least. A basic block does not an engine make. The NA 3.8L is pretty drastically different from the SC'd one for example. Actually.. how similar are the 3.8L SC and the motor that went in the GN?
I guess my questions stem from the fact that if these engines are even somewhat available they'd an awesome canidate for all kinds of swaps. eg. I've never heard of anyone putting one in a chevette for example, but I've seen plenty (2 personally) with small blocks in them. Hell, if it were me I'd probably be pulling V8's out of some cars to replace them with the motor from a GN, but then I'm just an import owner with no respect for the all hallowed V8.
