Question. My DD is a 98 Buick Le Sabre. The car is great condition overall, now on to my point. It has/had pin stripes at one point all of which is faded, gone or something except about 5 inches on the fenders. It has to be painted on because I can't get anything to peel with my finger tips. I don't have any pics, I really don't see why they would be needed but I'm looking to remove the remaining 5 inches or so.
Any thoughts?
There are a few ways to go about removing that stripe. The first thing I would do is use a dual action buffer with a cutting pad preferably, with some mequire's fine cut cleaner. It should remove that stripe after a reasonable amount of buffing. If it is not coming off that easy, step up to some medium cut cleaner or heavy cut cleaner. If none of those techniques work, the next thing I would do is take a dremel with a felt wheel. Use the lowest setting and very little pressure with the mequires fine cut cleaner (BE VERY CAREFUL BECAUSE THE FELT WHEELS WILL SEVERELY SCOUR THE PAINT). I have not had good luck with the dremel technique, but some people can manage to make it work.
Use some nail polish remover. If you are brave some laqure thinner. Should come right off if it is painted on. It's only base. No clear on it so it will come right off.

That item is far less amusing and outrageous than I thought it would be. Useful looking, though.

Thats what I was thinking of trying I just didn't know if it would work on painted pin stripes.
The thing with eraser wheels is that they can fade the paint if you work an area to long. They do work great for some things though. If you had a vinyl pin stripe, it would work for sure. I have tried an eraser wheel on my friends painted stripes and it didn't even touch them.
