I know a few guys local to me that own those cars. They are the only 4-cylinder that i have ever heard that does not remotely sound like a 4 banger.

my buddy had a conquest in high school and the turbo was bad on it so he put on a new one and that thing would scream!! wasn't a lot of cars around town that would touch it.he still has his sitting in his backyard in great condition with a blown motor though. His looks just like this.
Those 2.6s eat headgaskets, even that withstanding I have loved the Starions/Conquest TSi cars since I was youngster. The older they get the less they seem to be recognized. They always reminded me of a squared up Porsche 944.

Theres a guy in the next town that has about 4 of them sitting in his driveway.
My buddy has one on bags and the bottle with a muliport conversion. I've learned about them from him and think they are cool. He posts by ELkidminoLTU on starquest forums.
They are a great way to go RWD but still enjoy your four-cylinder habit. I'd like to see one with an Ecotec engine conversion and a Solstice-Sky transmission!
