Got a new toy!

So, I haven't had a Cavalier for a while now, but I still post maybe once or twice a year on here. My current daily driver is a 2001 S10 Xtreme. But last week, a friend of mine got in a hard spot and had to put his '94 Firebird up for sale. He started out asking me $1800 for it. Once I got to his house, which was 6 hours away, I started pointiung out this and that and ended up getting the car for $1000. It has just turned over 100,000 miles, has a 6 month old transmission in it (6-speed manual) and the engine dynoed at 525 horses at the crank. He has the dyno file at his house. Anyways, here she is. I don't think I did too bad for $1000.

nice ride for sure...

but talking down a "friend" on his price when he's in a hard spot and has to sell the car because of his situation sounds pretty crappy.

The "hard spot" was that he needed a car that he could haul his 2 kids in. This car just wasn't that practical for him to own. He ended up buying a 98 BMW 328i.

The things it needs include a heater core due to this one being busted, a front seal on the engine due to an oil leak, and some minor body work.

If he had been in a bind and needed money, I would have paid his asking price. But that wasn't the case here.

The hood is definitely going to be the first thing to go. I can't decide if I want the stock hood or the Firehawk ram air hood.

Aside from that, I have a stroker kit that's getting ready to go in it. I'm also ordering a head/cam/intake package from Summit to throw on it. After that, it's either getting a shot of nitrous or a supercharger. My goal is low 10's to high 9's and still be streetable. Should be a nice little weekend warrior.

I understand the logic, but in all fairness, the friend could've just told him to f*** off if he didn't like the price. This guy gave him an offer, take it or leave it. I think all parties probably came away happy.

Damn I wish I could find something around that price here.

The $1000 I gave him for this car was enough to allow him to make the down payment on a 98 BMW that he wanted. He just wanted to get 1800 for it because that's what he had in it. I offered to make the down payment on the BMW because I didn't want to spend 1800 on the car. To be honest, I had no desire to buy it to begin with. I have too many projects as it is. But when he took my offer of 1000, I had to buy it. I simply couldn't pass it up.

This car needs some work. The heater core is busted, the front seal on the engine leaks, and it needs some cosmetic work. It's going to be stored in my garage and worked on over winter. But my bike and my TTA are more important to me right now.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Once I start the engine build, I may start a progress thread to track my progress to a 9 second street car.
