So about 2 weeks ago now this all happened... Just washed the Monte Carlo at about 4:30 pm and had to leave it outside as I was working on my neighbors tractor in the garage =/
I wake up to go to work for 8am and there are two deep key marks down the entire side of the car... both sides!... so after flippin out for a couple i just say screw it and go to work. While i was there i called up my insurance company and they sent an adjuster down and they cut me a check right there to get it fixed which was unexpected.
So i leave at the end of the day and make it half the way home and the differential blows up on me... and this isn't a stock chuck in there.. it was an aftermarket 3.73 posi thats maybe 5 years old with 20k miles on it.
Had to toss a limited slip POS in it for now while i get another chuck for it and brought it down the body shop to get sanded down totally and repainted as well as fix some dings and dents.
Two days ago i get a call from the body shop and they guy says to me that he has never seen this before... of course i think uh oh how much MORE do i have to pay now?
The guy tells me that the car doesnt even have ONE spot of bondo on it! now i find that pretty amazing for an '88.
As of right now thats where it stands still. I'm going to the body shoptomorrow to get some pictures of the car. Will post them when I get out of work.
I bet it wasn't! One of the bearings blew up and took out literally everything. Nothing inside is salvagable =/
Well the differential went out today to get rebuilt. Haven't had time to get over to the body shop so I had them take some pictures for me. Will post them up soon. The car's going to look so nice again =)
yeah i just tossed those up quickly... better ones in a couple minutes
Now thats how you paint a car.... all they way down to the metal.
No scuff and spray was done
we actually just replaced the exhaust because it was rotting.. we did have a set of reallyyyyy nice gold tips on there =)
it looks stock but it isn't. has 2000W of power in the trunk and has a crate 350 from summit under the hood with no smog crap
i've always thought a mild drop would look sick on these cars but i dont have the money to do it as im about to go away to college. and believe me there was no way that i was going to have it bs repainted lol.
i dont have any pictures but i just stopped by the body shop earlier today to get my garage door opener and the car is sitting in primer right now. god its going to be one beautiful car =)
