So I've been driving my POS 97 fire for a while now... and honestly really want something different...
I only had one car in mind... 2009 Chevy Cobalt SS Turbo... the one I am looking at is fully loaded (obviously), 5 speed and Rally Yellow...
Now I know the majority of the guys and gals on hear love them... and I would fall under that category... but I just wanna get some of your opinions on the car... with the economy how it is... I think nows the time to get one...
So let me know what you guys think... thanks...
I personally am not a fan of the way the Cobalt's look. You are most likely just going to get a bunch of fairly biased opinions. In their price range, I would look at other things. But it's all about the goals you have with the car man.
On the other hand....you have other fingers.

thanks guy.... well i also looked at an 09 sentra ser spec v and wasnt impressed at all... and its about the same price
Get what you like, but for the price, you have a crap load of alternative cars you can get into
I know they respond pretty well to mods and such, and I don't much mind the exterior... but I hated the interior. specifically, the dash. just random placements for buttons and crap.
personally, if I was looking for something along the lines of a SS/TC 'Balt, I'd also check out the Mazdaspeed 3.

RIP JESSE GERARD.....Youll always be in my thoughts and prayers...
I love the new Cobalt SS's with the LNF. I almost got one.
Personally I'd get a SAAB cause well thats what I did
Great car.. NO idea why people hear are bashing it....... Performance wise it is top in its class, YA the interior is a little meh, but still a fantastic car.. WITH a near bullet proof drivetrain. Exterior styling is still sleek as well !
My Cav
I give up...
i'm buying a VW those people love trees, so they should love eachother too... "Andy"
Cobalts are a decent car with an above average by GM standards interior.....which means it's god awful.
get the cobalt ss tc my friend just picked one up. the inside is not bad like everyone says it is. i have the g5 and the dash is fine for me. its ez to use and not over done.

Because those people personally don't like certain things about it. Get over it. No one was outright bashing it.
ANYWAY, I would like to 3rd the recommendation of checking our a WRX. I have been a Subaru fan for a long time and that is at the top of my list in it's price range.

the balts are alright but in the end it is a gm good for american/canadian/mexican economies (lol maybe not in that order), i personally if my stepdad wasnt a gm employee wouldn't buy a new gm if modding is your goal. in the end gm doesnt want you to modify your car they want all the money for the aftermarket main reason the extremely low aftermarket. if your wanting to stay in the economical tuner i would be on top of a mazda, mazdaspeed is excellent about parts and the racing history of mazda is nearly second to none, although not really mainstream. mazdaspeed gives discounts if you show that you race in three approved races a year, not hard to do.
i would def give mazda a look if your buying new. subaru's are pretty sick test drove a new wrx the other day and was going to buy it till i saw my insurance rates on it. i also drove the ss/tc and it just didnt quite match up to the mazda or the subaru.
I would say the cobalt, or the wrx

see one of my first thoughts was to look at a balt and a wrx... but the balt is waaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper then the wrx... i can get it for 18,500 before taxes.... i couldnt even come close to touching that with the wrx unfortunately... and im looking for a brand new car here... i dont want to buy used or a wrx would have been at the very top of my list...
I was all over the WRX.... till i did some looking around NASIOC and found a thread of 60+ 09 wrx's ( last time i looked) with catastrophic engine failure under 13K miles, 5k being the average on that site alone. After seeing that I have decided to hold off ob buying one till SOA officially releases something stating why the cause was. While the motors were covered under warranty, I personally don't want a motor and car with mismatched serial numbers because of contamination somewhere in production.
I like the Mazda but the 'balt as well, look at what Hahn did with their SS/TC

I would say Cobalt SS is fine. It is cheaper. There are plenty of parts running around on other cobalts for future use if needed. I have also read about the problems with the new wrxs. Mazdaspeed does give you the discount on parts for the racing, however, I was pretty sure they were not responding very well to more than basic mods. The biggest downside to the cobalt is cheap interior, bland exterior, and it will be worth half what you pay for it in 4-5 years.
2004 Cavalier. Razzi. (Sold)
1998 Corvette. Some mods.
1992 Typhoon. Lots of mods.
1994 Civic VX 44MPG
i recently saw a 06 mazdaspeed 6 at a local dealer and about traded in my dads truck (he bought a new one) for it!! hahahha i would love to have a speed 3 or 6, but the wife cant drive stick....(so i guess she can just stick to her car?? lol) but realistically, when its time to get rid of the fire, i'd like a mazda 3 or 6 (probably not a mazdaspeed) or a subaru legacy... but will probably also look at a sedan cav or small truck.
Pontiac G8 GXP....gets my vote!!!
