My friend has a 2004 A4 and he doesn't know if it has the HID lights or not. is there a way to check? I am not with him so I can't see them.

Yeah, there's usually a label on the cowl, or you COULD check the owner's manual.
The other option is Sylvania-Osram. They have their automotive bulb finder.
FIRST, they're bright as hell lol
SECOND, they colorshift when they ignite. Stand in front of the car, have someone turn on the headlights. OEM 4100-4300ks will ignite blue-white and settle to a white-yellow.

Like LED's they will come on really quickly and not fade on/off like halogens would.

you drive another car that doesnt have them and realize how @!#$ty the output is.

I asked because the autoparts store I work at lists H7 halogens and H7 HI bulbs. The H7 designation is size and shape and does not designate what kind of bulb it is. And that body style came with both HID and non-HID.
We figured it out.
