Pretty nice car. I am partial to the 66-67s though. I would get new inner fenders, cost of new vs. labor to fix the ones you have, probably be able to find some nice ones on e-bay for a deal. Get rid of the green paint. Other than that good luck with the re-build. Is it a ram air engine?

performance years has them for $150 a side so I was thinking just get those
I wish it was a ram air engine but this is a 73 400 probably out of a bonnieville
Good call, $150 from PY is a good deal, I would take that route. Since you are taking the engine and dog house off I would completely repaint the firewall and sides of the cowl. Eastwood sells a great kit for under hood items, correct color for the break booster and master cylinder and all that, they also sell a zinc coating paint for all the misc. fasteners and brackets. For $100.00 spent at Eastwood and a few hours time it will add substantial value to the car as a whole. Did you buy the car the way it sits or did you do the work yourself? How good of shape is the rest of the car? Was all the metal work done correctly? Have you had the car VIN ran through Pontiac Historical Services, for like $50.00 they will send you a build sheet with all the options from the factory and tell you what dealer it was send to for sale.
Sorry for the random thoughts, just a huge Poncho fan and love to see these cars taken care of the right way.

car is pretty much as is when we bought it in 99. changes are hotchkis suspension and coker tires for the rally IIs I have a new core support and a new hood to go in when we start to put it back together.
Post up the head codes and i can get you some info on that engine. I "scored" a set of 72cc heads at my local junkyard, but they are small valves.

only thing I can make out is a D and a N
"D" and "N" hmmm, they are usually numbers and are located on the top of center exhaust runners. I dont have the website bookmarked here at work, but when i get home i'll look them up. I also have a set of heads to look up from a Catalina i found at the junkyard, i dont have too high of hopes but you never know.
If you need any help with that 400, i have some links at home to some very nice parts. Im also wanting to get rid of my Eldebrock Performer RPM intake mani. I bought it when i "thought" i knew how i wanted my 400 built. It has been installed but never ran.

this is the new core support thats waiting to go in
Ok so the heads from that catalina i found are 1.96/1.66(small valves) and 87cc(medium chamber), but the engine is a 455 rated at 360hp. But im not finding a "D" or "N".

2.11/1.66 valves
170, 185 hp
98 cc

Eh you took the fun outta it. Those heads are ok, but they need work. 2.11 is the big intake valve, but 1.66 is the small exhaust valve. I would see how much you can mill the heads to bring that 98cc down and see if there is enough room to fit in 1.77 exhaust valves.
Im still looking for a set of 2.11/1.77, 72cc heads. I might end up having to go with a set of aftermarket aluminum heads, if i cant find a set in the junkyard(proboly will be cheaper).
I dunno what all websites you have found for Poncho stuff, but if ya want when i get home i can post the ones i have.
I have been researching these engines on and off for 4-5 years and as soon as my truck is ready for an engine, i'll be building my 400.
Also i do have a set of 1.94(small valve)/1.66, 72cc heads. If you want them. There is not enough clearance to put in bigger valves, so they are not my preffered head.

looks good. The frame rail is an easy fix. Car is going to look hot when you get it done. Just don't cut any corners on it. There are a couple of good forums that have alot of good info on them, you might want to check them out.

Pontiac Zone is a good place with alot of good people.
http://forums.performanceyears.com/forums/index.php
Pee Why forums are good with alot of good info but I don't realy like some of the people on there, there is alot of forum politics on there.
