First off, I hate my stupid car. It's a 2005 Saturn Ion-3 Coupe. It's got more rattles and clunks than cars twice it's age, it's ridiculous. /endrant. Anyways. Oncer every 3-5 months the sway bar bushing have to be replaced. Well, it was done last November, and now they're clunking really really bad. The slightest bump feels like the whole front end of the car is going to fall off, it's also constantly making clunking noises.. Sooo embarrassing. Anyways, is it a safety hazard to get this fixed right away? It's really cold out, and I'm tired of spending my days off work bringing the stupid car to the Saturn dealership, where they give me the same ol BS story on how they're gonna fix it properly this time. Someone at work told me late model J's use the same style bushings, but are built better. Know of any truth to that? Any help I'd appreciate it.

^^ I'm with the mountain goat on this one
Buy some energy suspension bushings and tell the dealer to install those instead. Back when I worked for Dodge we had a similar issue with Caravan's CONSTANTLY needing bushing/link replacements, they changed the design at least 5 times in the 3 years i was there and it never got better.

$20 bucks says that they will void suspension warranty after that. I had a transmission warranty voided on my 03 cav after installing a B&M short shifter.
I doubt it. Beside, warranty would almost be up on a 05 anyway.

If you search on IonForums.net it's posted a million times of the problems with the bushings. I have less than 3600 miles on my 2007 so I haven't run into this problem yet.
I miss her^

except that they can't legally do that, unless they can prove that it was improperly installed and thats what led to the failure. See Magnusson/Moss Warranty Act.

Well, I'm not dumping any money at all in this car. I only drive it back and forth to work, and that's it. Hence I've only put 40,000 KM's on it in the 3 years that I've owned the car. I just want to know if I'm risking my life by driving it with the bushings clunking as much as they are. If not, I won't take it in to have it fixed till later on in the spring. I got the extended warranty, so the warranty is good right till the end of the lease. I've never owned such a crappy car in my whole life. The interior trim pieces are falling off all over the place, it clunks and rattles at the lightest of bumps.. ughhh.. I was talking to the local Honda dealer. He wants me to have the buyout faxed directly to the manager to see what they can do for me.. But I know the cars have such crappy resale value, it won't work.. :/ I just wish someone would steal the car or it would just burn itself to the ground. But no, I'm stuck paying $330/month for a car I barely even drive, fun times. If it wouldn't ruin my credit, I'd call GMAC tomorrow and tell them to pick up their heap of car.. Anyyyways.. if someone can answer my original question, I'd appreciate it.

well, its not really a safety issue, but if its that big of a complaint to you then i don't see why you wouldn't want to spend the $50 or so it would take to permanently resolve the problem.

Yeah, I might actually do that this spring/summer.. Since the inspection is in the spring, I could do it then. Thanks for the help Scarab.
