Way back when, like in 1989ish, my dad got a comanche as a company vehicle, and after the company got a new truck, he bought it off them for dirt cheap. We had it forever, then sold/traded it to my uncle who had it for a couple years, and then got it back. Then it went to my other uncle for the last couple years, and now we got it back again, for dirt cheap. The thing is pretty much all original and has im guessing almost 300k on it (original motor and auto tranny) since the last i knew it was just under 270k and that was like 5 years ago. ANYWAYS, as you can guess, it needs some major TLC, but im excited that we got it back, and eventually the truck will be mine as well since my dad has too many vehicles as it is (and another project to boot as well).
So this leads me to a couple questions
The door(s) have some pretty bad rust on the bottom, would cherokee doors work? if so 2 or 4 door?
I am pretty sure the MJ is based right off the cherokee platform if memory serves me right, so i am thinking one of them works
and if that is true, then most of the other parts (like brakes and such) would be the same right?
It will be a slow process in getting this truly road worthy, and funds would be tight, so a budget resto is in order
its also only a 4x2 so i definitely do not plan on off-roading it (at least not any time soon)
i know some of you are on jeep forums, so what is the best forum for info? i would like to do some reading up on the best budget upgrades and replacements for this truck
it would only be used as a nice little daily driver type truck
ill also post pics later this week/early next week
I've wanted a Comanche for so long...

I believe the front doors on a Cherokee 4 door will work, the 2 door model's won't unless you stretch the cab. Since it's a 4x2 you ought to turn it into a sleeper. Jeep took one to Bonneville back in the late 80's and set a worlds fastest production truck record.
one of the guys on AZJBO has an '88 Comanche he might be selling very soon.
actually, it's the MJ from
