i don't know. would they really give the camaro nearly the same power as a vette though? would be awesome if it turns out to be true.

why would GM shoot them selves in the foot by making that? who would buy the vette anymore?
would be nice, but i dont see it hapening.

vette and camaro owners are usually 2 different classes of people
granted there is a large portion , that will own both
Camaro needs 500 to compete with the new shelby mustang cobra. It will be probably be a motor option not the base. plus we all know the corvette powerplant will get a bump before then.
I can see the SS or perhaps the Z/28 performance model getting 500 horsepower (which model is the higher end performance deal...either way both will spank anything I own at the moment) but I can't see the base model Camaro getting 500 horsepower. Hell I can't even see the mid level Camaro getting 500 horsepower but a SS or Z/28 with 500 horsepower sound reasonable and depending on the price it probably wouldn't cut into the sales of a 505 horsepower Z06. I think GM will do a find job creating a balance between a high output Camaro and a high output Corvette, or at least that's my thoughts.
[quote=97cavie24ls(™)]6.2l direct injected motor , shame there isnt more info on the motor , MR GOODWRENCH ???

Hey!!!
I dunno about a DI motor just yet. For sure expect the same motors found in the G8 and Commodore to be in the Camaro, since they will share platforms. Camaro Concept used a LS2, but we all know it is slowly going out. A 500+HP is in the works, how will they achieve it? The new S/C kit for the Commodore strikes me as the best plausible way.

some on another forum mentioned something about the motor being based from the E85 motors for the suvs , and its a n/a motor with 11.5 compression
dam i was hoping you would know more , maybe the suv info will help ya find something
That is true, Sigma's V8 engines will be based on the SUV's 6.2L V8 (L92). As for now, it looks like the D-I engine is just in experimental stages. If it does go into production, expect this engine to be ready for the C7 and eventually trickle down to the Camaro. But for now, expect the Sigma's engines on the Camaro, albeit more powerful.

Id be happy with any LS V8 with more 300hp in that car, theres not a need for 400-500, thats vette territory
After all they are bringing this car out to compete with the Mustang, they price it too high they will have another GTO slow seller
Currently the mustang GT offers 300hp for 28k, Gm needs to offer at least 300 (which shouldnt be a problem) for under 30k to be competitive with the mustang and offer a V6 model with more than 250 in the low 20s

Bah, I wouldn't even consider a Camaro with less the 500hp.
**there is only one true love in my life... and my girlfriend has learned to live with it**
Camaro has always beat out the mustang everywhere except the sales floor. With the new styling it may be a different ball game. I see no reason a camaro with over 300HP should be over 30k. If they just use the LS2 it'll already be over 300HP. GM needs this, lol. I need this....DONT @!#$ IT UP!

um why over 250?
if it was over 250 horses on the v6 then the majority of people would not even bother with the v8 because it would be a minor power difference (if the v8 were to stay in the low 300's)
if it was in the realm of the mustangs motor options, 200 hp v6 and 300 hp V8, then it would be better
the reason they killed the camaro in the first place was it priced itself out
hopefully gm doesnt make the same mistake
well if its 500hp its not going to be cheap as the mustang and they arent going to outsell it

hell the V6 camaro will have the new 3900 with 300 hp
