Well, we went from this ...
Pre Accident Pics
To this:
We were in downtown Rochester going to be walking around the outside mall. We were stopped at a Red light, when the Domino's pizza delivery driver (late 90's dodge durango) had his "foot slip off the brake and hit the gas peddal" (that is what he told the cops). He hit us so hard, we were pushed into a Jeep Wrangler, which had a spare back tire, causing the hood to fold up like a piece of tin foil. her car was undrivable, because the radiator was pushed into the engine. We will find out tomorrow if the car will be totaled. She has a red pontiac grand prix as a rental.
Questions and/or comments are welcome
***sorry about the pic size, my gf's dad took the pics***

Buy back and pop in the Celica engine with a turbo hung off it
As crazy as it sounds...My foot has slipped off and slammed down on the gas....
Crazy accident, but glad everyone is ok
No, the air bags didn't pop. I guess we got lucky, we missed the sensors by a foot
On kbb.com it is worth just over 10k. So, I don't think they will be sending her a check. We should hear back from the adjuster tomorrow.
If you guys want, I can take pics of the rental, lol ... its actually pretty nice

The 40oz in the other pictures didn't have anything to do with this, did it? haha j/k. Glad everyone is okay though.
is that a toyoa engine? I didn't know they put them in the vibes.
**changes are here**
the vibe is built by toyota , where you been ?
did the intake get hit ? those plastic intakes break very easy , i had to replace the head on a celica because the intake broke
pontiac vibe= toyota matrix with pontiac badging. glad to hear everyones okay man.

Not that I am aware of, the intake sits behind the battery and infront of the drives side suspension (thingy, cant thing of the name at the moment).

^^ yes that is what im talking about

I couldn't tell you on that one. We never opened up the hood to find out. We should hear from the adjuster today about the damage.
RandomGuy 171: lol ... no, that didn't have anything to do with it

The vibe was designed by GM and is a joint venture between Toyota and GM only the interiors and exteriors differ. Its built on a corolla chasis. Not that hard for people not to notice as it screams Pontiac.

Well, I just got news within the past 30 minutes, that the Vibe is going to be totalled. I guess there was just too much damage to fix it. Now, she doesn't know what she is going to do. How much they are going to give her. Acording to the bank, she owes 11k on it. So, she is pretty much @!#$, if you ask me. Hopefully she will make her way though it. I'll update with the total amount damage later today, probably after car shopping, lol
dan
post some pics of the grand prix. You should beat the hell out of it, thats my favorite part about rental cars.
@!#$in rochesterians cant @!#$ drive

guess she doesnt have gap insurnace, that sucks
The total amount of damage was >12k. Im guessing because the uni-body was bent to hell.
97trd(???™): we went to go take her aftermarket cd player out and some belongings, and yes, the intake manifold is basically cut in half
Pics of her rental car will be up soon
and ex: I keep telling her that, but she wont let me

Do you have any legal recourse on the guy that hit her with his durango? At least to get her into the same model/year of the VIBE over what insurance payed you?
Also with GAP insurance IMO its not worth it unless your in financial straights or are a high risk driver. The EV is negative in the long run on purchasing it if you compare the number of accidents you have that total your car vs the number of cars you own and the lifetime cost of GAP.
Don't accept any less than the payoff of the car loan. I know it sucks that you spend all that money and have nothing to show for it, but at the very least you don't want to be upside down on the loan.
GL and keep us updated.

The pay out on her vibe was 11,1xx something and she is getting 11,2xx. I do know that she is getting 6x dollars back. Sorry, I can't give you the exact amount, just a rough estimate. Sorry, about the pics of the rental, we are just too busy with work and trying to get things settled with the insurance and looks for a new car. She will get her tb (trailblazer) tonight and pics of that will be up, in this thread ....

I love the vibe GT. 1.8 VVT, 6 speed, 8500 redline. Kinda fun for a mini-minivan. They have great interior space too.
2004 Cavalier. Razzi. (Sold)
1998 Corvette. Some mods.
1992 Typhoon. Lots of mods.
1994 Civic VX 44MPG
iam sorry for the accident but just because the frame rails might have been damaged is no need to total the car, the air bags didnt even pop, was the insurance company using all gm parts?? so it could total, what kind of insurance companies are being delt with here

Well, if I'm not mistaken, the Vibe is a uni-body and if that gets messed up, there is ALOT of work to be done. Also, the engine was pretty much shot, so I'm guessing since it was a Toyota engine, it wouldn't be cheap. She has Frankenmuth (sp) insurance, and from what she heard, is that they like to total out cars. Which I guess isn't a bad thing, especially since it will never be the same as a car that just came off the line.
