I just sold my old black boat. A 1975 Mercury Meteor. It's super rare, but it wasn't "fun" to drive really. So now am on the lookout for my next fast/fun old/older car.
I've narrowed it down to the following list Anyone have any horror stories about these cars?
1971-72 Dodge Demon 340
1972-74 Plymouth 'Cuda 340/360
1973-76 Plymouth Duster 340
1973-74 Chevrolet Nova SS350 w/ manual transmission
1973-76 AMC Hornet X w/ a 360 V8
1976-77 Plymouth Roadrunner w/ a 360 V8
1977-80 AMC AMX ('77 was a Hornet, '78 was a Concord and '79-80 were both Spirits)
1978-81 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 w/ a 454 V8 (not original, but these Z's are a real dogs, so originality isn't a concern)
1978-79 Dodge Aspen Super Coupe w/ a 360 V8
1978 Dodge Magnum GT w/ a 440 V8
1979 Chrysler 300
1979 or 1983 Oldsmobile Hurst/Olds
1982-87 Chevrolet Camaro Berlinetta Coupe w/ a 350 V8 and manual transmission (I hate the Z and RS ground effects kits)
1983-93 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 or GT Convertible w/ manual transmission
1984-88 Chevrolet Monte-Carlo SS
1986-87 Buick Grand National
1987-93 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 Coupe w/ manual tranmission
1990 Chevrolet 454SS
1993-95 Ford Lightning
1993-97 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 w/ manual transmission
1993-97 Pontiac Trans Am/Firebird Formula w/ manual transmission
Watcha think?
I would hate to ask what the list looked like before you "narrowed it down". That's a ton of cars, but my input as far as fun to drive would be an '82 Mustang GT with T-tops. Loved the one I had man, and was just a blast!!
id say go for the AMC's , the only bad thing is parts are harder to get , but you see less of them on the streets
myself , i plan on getting a early 70's gremlin , with the V8
my dad had a 72 pre-X model , 304 3spd , and it was a great car , he had over 100K on it with the stock clutch and brakes , and would drift a freeway on-ramp like a pro smoking all 4 polyglass gt's , i really miss that car
I would have to say 5.0 mustang if you want to go fast for a decent price, parts are cheap and so are the cars anymore. But if it was me i would try to find a 98-02 camaro or ta. that way you get the ls1. fun cars too drive and not really bad on gas
it makes me sick to think you can afford those cars, id kill for some of those lol. Have fun with whatever you choose
Aww man....78-81 Camaros?!

77 Camaro's are awesome. I simply favor the 78-81 because they're not collectible so I can buy a modified to hell one and drive it all over instead of worrying about messing up the paint.
My goal basically is to get a car that costs in between 5 and 10 grand tops. That's why a lot of my choices are not what you'd call "collectible".

maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow....... but some day
78-81 camaro but im a little biased
I sense alot of High tops in here with missing shoe laces. Black Levi Orange tabs, and above that.. AC/DC shirts or Metallica shirts.. and above that a baseball cap with coloured flames on it.
I'd go with the road runner, I've always loved those cars.

Heres another vote for AMC! A few years back I had a 1980 Spirt AMX. It was a great little car. The 79 was the last year that you could get a 304 V8, but the 1980 is super rare since only 865 were built before being discontinued around mid year. I really, really miss that car.
New Yeller
