DISCLAIMER: I am usually not a big fan of Sportsters. I respect them for what they are, what they have done in the past (XR750), and their heritage (how many model names do you know that have been around for 50 years?), but I don't really feel the passion burning inside of my loins whenever I see one. Well, let me rephrase that - I
didn't really feel the passion, that is, until this bike came out:
It's the 2007 XL1200N Nightster. And I love it. You can read more about it
here
If these are as sexy in person as they are in real life, you may Brown eye out cruisin' on his girl bike around western PA sometime this summer
I love all of it except for the accordion boots on the forks. I love harleys but won't have one till sport bikes become old to me. By the way, SV's kick @$$!
**come on, no 6 speed!? I thought they were all starting to come with a 6 speed transmission?

I personally like the accordian boots on the forks, it definitely gives the bike a little bit of British bobber style. Actually, that's why I love this bike so much, it has a bobber-meets-Indian Scout Army bike, especially with the olive green and satin black paint. I'd have to get rid of those pipes right away though, and replace them with some V&H Sideshots, painted black with header wrap on the first 1/3 of the pipes, and then perforated heat shields to match the belt guard and front fender supports. And a set of drag bars. And maybe the C-model forward controls, too. All painted black, of course...
Oh, and don't you worry, the SV isn't going anywhere soon. I have some cool stuff that's going on when I get back home for good in 2 weeks.
Meh. Still not a Harley fan, give me Triumph anyday.

Not bad...but I kind of like the Nightrod a little more...dunno, still a very nice bike tho.
I want a bike so bad but I dont have a garage and dont trust my nighborhood at all.
I like that paintjob, very WWII looking color.
How many steps to heaven, Doc?
...Ah, metaphysics.
awesome bike. wish i could afford one
well, while I was down at Bike Week, I got a chance to see a few of them in person...
they do look just as good in person. even better, they are so mean. the only problem is, they are uncomfortable as hell. the seat pushes you too far forward, the mid-mount controls just suck, and the handlebars are too wide. It's all screwed up. Sure, you could get a set of Custom model forward controls, drag bars, and a new seat, but the bike already costs 10 grand, and dropping another thousand onto a brand new bike just to make it rideable is just ridiculous in my opinion.
so, needless to say, I will probably not be out cruising on my Sporty this year (or ever)
Much better...
Im a Vrod kinda person..i mean sportsters are ok....but.. i dont know, thats just not doing it for me
I like V-rods alot also, but they're out of my price range. Basically the only new Harley I can afford is a Sportster, so that's why this one caught my attention, because it is definitely the most bad-ass of the bunch. But, it sucks to sit on, which is more important than looking cool (sometimes
). I dunno, maybe I'll look for an early 2000's Night Train or Deuce, or a 35th anniversary Super Glide. Or a new Yammie Road Star, those are some comfortable bikes. Hell, I might go crazy and get a Kawi Nomad and strip the windshield and backrest off and make a nasty-looking bagger. I dunno, we'll see
