well i was thinking about getting a pontiac for the ms, and i just wanna know how reliable are the 3100 engines? any issues i should know about? if its better to get something else for her i will. just funds kinds short right now
back in the day.........bout 6 years ago lol. i had a 87 pontiac 6000 had a 3.1, had 400,000 + went forever didnt do much to it but regular maint. but i doudt its the same as a 3100. we had the car since new.
maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow....... but some day
well that have intake gasket problems and usually leads to head gasket problems
but if you take care of it and dont beat the @!#$ out of it you will be fine

the 3100 is a good motor. but for the GXP good pick. i looked at one and if i had gotten it i would have had this body kit on it.
my parents had too cars with that motor and both went over 200,000 miles. they were very good about maintaining them too.

My girlfriend has a 1997 Cutlass Supreme with the 3100 engine with 230 000+ kms on it and runs very good! I like this car better than mine gives a smooth ride. We have crazy winters up here and the engine runs and starts great even at temperature below -25 degrees celcius! I like this car! With good maintenance it will run forever!
I had a 94 Cutlass Supreme and had to rebuild the 3100 engine at like 120,000 miles.
