Thanks.
She's my baby. She's been kept in a garage for 2 years, and hasn't seen rain or snow in over 4 years. She has never been to the track or beat on. This car is the (soon-to-be-ex)owner's BABY. Its in absolute pristine shape. Pretty much a one of a kind find for dsms.

My boyfriend is good friends with the owner. I know a few other people who knows him as well. He's a good guy who takes pristine car of all his cars. I believe he has 2 or 3 other DSMs. He doesn't do much with this one, its been in his garage for 2 years being babied.

Kinda hard to understand why you went back 7 years to get the car, but it looks clean.
O noes!
Nice find... my girlfriend is jealous now... she was a white 2g talon.... and I wont buy her a NT lol.
Also, at only 53k miles.... wooooo thats is a find indeed... if you dont mind me asking, how much did pay for it?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe Im just pissed, pissed that my freinds are spineless, What else would you
call abandoment some night, when you're in a fight, and they could make things right?
Spineless. I miss some of my old friends, the ones who you could count on,
bet a huge amount on, the fact that they'd always have your back... Its like a kick in
the sack, just knowing, you've got nothing to fall back on. @!#$ this, Im done.

Its AMAZING. I paid $7500 with the mods listed above. When we got there and checked it out, there was sooooo much more put into the car. This car was extremely loved by the owner. It was in better condition than I could have expected. So far no signs of crank walk and everything is tight. No rust, no scratches, or chips, not even swirl marks in the paint. Not a single piece of dust can be found anywhere on the interior.
The owner does not race cars, this car has $10-$11k just in mods and has never been beat on. He's only put about 1000 miles a year on this car in the 6 years that he has had it. The guy was wicked anal and he told me not to drive it in rain or snow...he was upset we were taking it today because it had rained out and the streets were wet. He almost had a hernia when my bf took it through a puddle on the test drive. LOL.

Nice!
But expect it to be parked more than you drive it.
True DSM guys will know what thats about. It's just the nature of DSM's.

lol, Yes, I know what dsms are notorious for. My boyfriend has owned 11 dsms so far, its th eonly car he has ever had, so I know all the troubles that can come. I already started an emergency "Oh @!#$ Fund" just in case, but so far this car look sand feels like its right out of the show room.

just get different wheels please
other than that it looks good

Truth.
Disclaimer: I will probally offend you with what is written in this post.
I know every assumes this car was beat on, but my boyfriend knows the ex-owner...and if you ever met this guy you know it wasn't. lol. It was his BABY. He's around 45 years old. And a HUGE perfectionist. He's very anal about this car, I had to tell him that I wasn't going to let it get snowed on, and I'd try to keep it out of rain too.
As an example, earlier in the day it had rained, so there were a few puddles, and when my boyfriend and I took it out for a test drive, on the way back to the house we went through a puddle and the owner almost had a hernia. LoL. He shuddered just by the sound of my bf revving the engine (not beating on, just revving in neutral.) He stored it in a garage with a car cover on it to keep dust off.
He was only selling it because he has no time to drive it and he has a 1 car garage, so he wants the space back. He whole family watched out the window to say goodbye to the car as we were driving her off.
I guess he had an 83 Corvette in awesome condition that he sold right before he got this TSI, and he was just as emotional watching it go. This guy takes amazing care of his cars.
I'm very excited, the car was in better condition that we thought it would be.

nice car.
with dsms if you take good care of the engine, the engine will dam well take care of your power needs.
My next car will be a dsm for sure. just the base model though. i need a winter beater. lol
I want to share something with you - the three sentences that will get you through life. Number one, 'cover for me', Number two, 'oh, good idea, boss', Number three, 'it was like that when I got here.'
very nice. almost bought one of those myself back when i was car shopping, ended up with the sunfire instead. still wouldn't mind having one, lol.
I would never buy one unless it was AWD though. Nothing against the DSM itself for FWD. After my last few FWD cars I just dont like them anymore. With a car so easy to get power out of traction will just become worse and worse.
I cant help to keep thinking about a 1G DSM AWD turbo.

nice engine bay too...
aslong as u look after they, they arnt much different than another cars. my 98 tsi awd was very reliable gettin me to work and back everyday for a year and durning winter too.. infact the only trouble i had with the car in the 2 and a half years i owned her was the tranny and that was my fault.. god i miss that car..

^^From what I heard the tranny's are notorious for that. Specially the 1g 5-speeds. Mine had grinding gears when I got it.
That engine bay looks sweet.

my first dsm had 134k origional miles on it with absolutely NO grinds in ANY gear. because it was drivin by my mother its entire life, and wasnt beaten on. people dont understand. these cars have problems like this because they are fast or actually have potential to be fast so people beat on them. its not some econobox car that is not fast at all and doesnt have power. treat the car right and it will treat you right. ive seen them go over 200k miles with only replacing small things and regular maintanence such as timing belt and stuff. because people didnt beat on there cars. if you want to beat on it and race it then cool, you will have something with WAY WAY more potential than any cavalier but it will break alot more too because it is fast and is actually making power.

Of course Kyle, thats because your DSM's were built by the hands of god himself. We've heard it on every DSM thread.
Although, you are right. Its been discussed and agreed in every single thread. So once again just for you we'll re-word it.
From what I've heard these cars are notorious for being beat on. One of the things that comes from beating the hell out of these cars is the tranny synchro's goes bad.
