So that's to stop better from your 150mph runs?
hahahahahaha
truck Vs. car humor is always funny. so what year Grand Cherokee? and although like Grand Cherokees i'd still take a 350Z anyday.

"Remember do what you like because you have to drive it."--Me
God damn that is sexy...i forgot about this thread untill it popped up. I thought it was new actually until i saw i already posted in it lol...
You were talking about the Jeep WJ and how nice there front calipers were...have your folks had any problems with theres? Pre 02 had serious issuses unless they were upgraded...
why did you have them cryo treated?
... cryo treatment is supposed to extend rotor life and prevent corrosion over a longer
period of time... and since these rotors came from Australia (expensive to ship)..
I wanted to extend their life so I don't have to, prematurely, order a new set. Here's
a good write-up on cryo treatment from tirerack.com
- www.tirerack.com
Long Lasting, Warp Resistant Brake Rotors
Power Slot has teamed up with Frozen Rotors to develop Power Slot Cryo cryogenically treated slotted rotors. Although not apparent to the naked eye, rotors treated cryogenically show significant improvements. Deep cryogenic processing creates dramatic increases in abrasive wear resistance and durability while also reducing residual stresses for an extra level of protection against warping
Serious drivers -- those who tend to cross the finish line first -- take their edge where they can find it. And a growing number of them have embraced the edge that they've found in cryogenically treated brake rotors. Here's why:
- Rotors resist cracking, warping and fading.
- Rotors last 2-3 times longer. Fewer pads and rotors are needed.
- Rotors stop consistently and predictably, lap after lap.

wow very interesting
i could see why one would want to do that

Not the rotors...well i mean it is, but you can put any rotor you want on there and they will warp...that first couple years of the WJ had a @!#$ty caliper that caused the warping..
Is there a fix? I seldom visit the WJ section on jeepforum.com. Some of the WJ mods are real douchebags

I think of it as an extended warranty for my brakes. You see cryo treatment commonly used on municipal vehicles (i.e. fire engines) to extend the life of their brake parts. BTW I deal with www.icerotors.com for my cryo treatments (talk to Harald H Galinski -- he's a pretty cool guy, and he won't try to fleece you)

The brakes looks nice man. I have PowerSlots on the front of mine and enjoy them, i'm sure that new setup would be even nicer.
I saw you posted about getting the TeraFlex rear disc kit. Have you thrown around the idea of just searching around and doing a conversion using ZJ rear discs? There are a couple little modifications you would need to do, but it would save you a lot of money rather that going with the TF kit.
Definitely post some pictures when they are installed.
Have a good one,
Justin
The teraflex kit is already installed

They're the small calipers in the above photo. I had everything installed in one shot. I didn't want to fool around tracking down the right parts for the ZJ conversion. The added benefit of the teraflex kit is that everything is brand-spanking new (pretty good for only 437 shipped to Canada -- from dc4wd.com). The only problem is that e-brake cables were not included with the kit, and they want 200 for the set (highway robbery). Another guy is trying KJ lines on his ZJ conversion this weekend; he'll let me know if those lines will work (ZJ and teraflex brakes have the same endlinks).
The new set-up is crazy. I'm still trying to take things easy, but my initial impression is that: the Jeep feels more stable going straight, sharp turns seem surprisingly effortless, and the brakes feel like they have allot more potential. In fact, I had some douche cut me off on the highway coming back home, and the brakes performed like champs. I didn't have to mash the pedal all the way down and hope that God would hear my prayers. My first drive after the install left me repeating "well that was easy" instead of my typical "save me god and I promise to go to church more often, drink less beer, and stop womanizing my neighbour's daughters". Nothing feels out-of-place with this set-up... everything feels improved yet very natural at the same time.
I don't have too many install pics. If you look at the first pic, you'll see where the hub was cut to fit the new front calipers. You can see the new mounting bracket in the second photo.
