2008 Toyota Corolla
Friday, October 13, 2006 8:25 AM

Called the Corolla Axio for the Japanese market (a wagon version, called the Corolla Fielder, is also available); the redesign is the first for the small vehicle since 2000. The 10th generation Corolla in Japan is a newly developed 1.8-liter engine mated to a continuously variable transmission. A rear-view parking monitor is one of the new vehicle’s standard features. Other available options include pre-crash safety and intelligent parking assist systems. Toyota was initially aiming for the new vehicle to hit the U.S. market sometime in 2007, but now is targeting 2008 for its stateside debut.

It's got something "lincon zypher" like in the front. the front is ok, i'm sue it will sell, but overall... boring! That is toyota, goos but boring, getting rid of the celica proved that is the direction they are going.

they're using Scion to appeal to the younger market...Toyota is for the Buick age group, and Lexus is the luxury group. they aren't going to make the Corolla interesting anymore.

i just want them to make another RWD corolla.

Are you kidding me? 8 years and that's it? They push back and push back and push back the launch of the next gen Corolla and that's all we get? That is LAME! It better have one hell of an interior because the exterior is definately not "cutting edge".

Sorry, not interested.

At this rate, Toyota will be equivalent to Buick with that really nifty turbocharged coupe they made about 20 years ago.

And now for something completely different... Click the Minister.

does it matter? the S has no performance value whatsoever.

As for being "lame" and "boring," nothing is worse in this category then these two turds.

^^^^^^^Um, THANK YOU!
jeez, both of those make the anything at Toyota look sexy.

I guess my only gripe is they've delayed this thing how many times? And it looks to me that this is the same exact car they have out now only with revised sheetmetal. Am i crazy?

Yeah and if they release a forced induction 200+ HP coupe then i will agree with you. Untill then GM has the more exciting car. I liked early-mid 90's toyota, not the grocery getters they are producing now. Give me an MR2 or a 5th or 6th gen celica anyday. As for Scion, well we don't get them in canada so that doesn't do me any good, plus what is so exiciting about that toaster they produce. The tC is nice but nothing to get me worked up, performance wise.

Lets wait on what Toyota will pull out on their new 4cyls. My bet is that they will not need forced induction to make 200HP like GM does.

^ ^ ^ FI > NA anyday.
I have owned both and i will never go back. My car is good on Gas when i want it to be, completly switches personalitys at 3500RPM, is very easily upgradable, oh and did i mention RWD. They just don't make cars like they used to.

My bet is in the future of honda's FI. Starting with the RDX, then we'll se what good a combo of proven NA results + FI R&D does.

Actually, when I first saw the pictures, I immediately thought of Cobalt. Not because it looks similar to a Cobalt, but rather because it doesn't really look that much different than the generation/nameplate it replaced. I would of expected this Corolla to have more of an edgier design similar to Scion.

... apparently because they want to get grip on their exponentially escalating recall issues.

ugliest corolla ever....kind of like aveo, yaris, zephir mix
the only ones making the nicest models now is Honda; civic, CRV, accord, etc....always getting nicer

Wow, that's pretty lame. I was expecting much more.

It makes the Cobalt look dead sexy.

I'll pass, thank you.

I'd rather have a Mazda 3, a Balt, Next gen Focus, or a Civic over that....
