nah there never was a cavalier ss

Originally the SS was a appearance package.

Yes the first SS came equipped with an Inline 6 and three speed column shifted manual transmission in an Impala. It wasn't till a couple years later when the "409" got really popular that SS became associated with cars that are fast

thats true. but over time, SS had become something special...now its just something they throw on a crappy car to make it sell better.
GO PATS!!!
"Hemi" is working for Dodge along with "R/T"
The hemi isnt all that special IMO but its selling the crap out of some dodges.
SO why wouldnt GM slap SS on its performers. It will help them sell cars. And a performer this motor and turbo combo is.
I am all that is man
sorry, but in my opinion, a "performer" doesn't brag about 205 HP...i understand that its a quick vehicle for its class, but i don't understand how you can slap an SS badge on FWD cobalts, HHR's, malibus, and impalas when they used to be on cars that dominated the streets.
GO PATS!!!
I don't mind it at all. It just gives us more selections for a more sportier vehicle. I think now a days people are looking for looks and sacrificing for a bit more dollars. I mean what's the point of getting a car that you don't like, then after a year or two, you ending up trading the car again which cost you more money, then getting what you really want for just a few more pennies.

You need to read all of the posts. I said it will have at least 260 hp, the same engine that will be in the solstice GXP. Again, before the were just appearance packages w/ the ss.

I don't know why they did away with the Z models. They shouldv'e kept that and the SS could stay for teh really fast cars.
