Yea, if he does I need another father =P
I hate you for driving it. I really hate him for owning it. I love those M5's they are so sexy.
very nice
I personally like the M3's better, but the M5's are also pretty awesome
rear tires are pretty wide , lol
nice ride
Yea, I love it, thing rides like its on rails, yet its still soooooo comfertable. Yea the rear tires are freakin wide as heck and they even seem cambered in a little. That plus the sweet low stance really looks awesome. I think these M5s are better lookin then the new ones. Its the perfect combination of luxury and performance. Plus they only came in 6spd manuals, not like the automatics they have now.
Wow. My favorite trim and year of any BMW.

Somehow, I was never able to let people look at my facebook albums without them having to sign in. Nice car, very nice car. I wouldn't worry too much about Dirty Elf, he just gets a little excited sometimes. Oh, and I added yah on Facebook.

little more info than we needed man , ya sick-O
Damn, I'm jealous...that is probably my favorite car ever. My buddy works for
BMW as a tech and I got to ride in one..like an 01 or 02...cruising at like 40-50 mph and drop it into second...the car just lights up the tires...just sick...
Good luck and treat her well. The motors cost like 20k or something like that.

Keep an eye out, Im gonna take some more pics in a day or so. I want some where the backround isnt my driveway and all residential. Maybe I'll take some in a parking lot or a business development complex.
Driving it in regular and then sport mode is like a night and day difference. It goes from being an everyday commuter to a f*ckin beast on the highway in sport. I was out with my dad last night and we had a couple of the new yahmaha r6 bikes try and race us.
my pops got this not too long ago...i made a post about it then...m5's are awesome....

the SMG is not an automatic...learn how transmissions work and you will realize the difference....also new m5's will be available with a conventional six speed in the US in the near future

^^ No doubt thats a sick car, and i do know what the smg transmission is, to simplify though, i feel like if a car doesnt have a clutch petal then its pretty much an automatic... that m5 is hot though, and im sure the 6spd ones coming out will be sweet too
word, if it doesnt have a clutch and you dont pull a shifter into the next gear, pretty much an auto IMO. While I know that its NOT... the action itself of those paddle shifters/smg/whatever seem no differant than using a floor shifter and going from 1st to 2nd, to 3rd, etc.
still nice cars though
Absolutely SICK!!! I love it man, you're very lucky. I saw one last week driving through the capitol of my state, it was damn sexy. I love M5's, just drop dead gorgeous. You put it on Facebook, too, which is sweet. I'm gonna try to find your page now and again just to view the pics.
Blown.
manual transmission with out a clutch, is automatick in my opinion
M5 rocks
see there is a clutch....just no clutch pedal...regardless of how some people chose to perceive it the fact is an smg transmission puts power to the ground more efficiently than your average torque converter automatic...and it shifts faster than probably 99% of all people could ever shift....plus i dont see too many 7 speed manuals around....some people think its a gimmick but 7th gear actually is really sweet for the highway and it allows for the other 6 gears to be a little bit shorter....
Supercharged 95 BMW 540i M-Sport
It may put power to the ground more effectively than an automatic, it may shift faster than any human could, and it may be great on the highway, but there's no way slapping a paddle on the steering wheel can be more fun than driving a real manual transmission.
when was the last time any of you guys drove a vehicle with a sequential transmission not including motorcycles? and i find it funny how you say "real manual transmission" like the smg is some sort of fake manual transmission...its not meant to be a conventional manual...I have driven lots of conventional manual transmissions...i don't own any automatic vehicles....i never have....i love manual transmissions....I have driven every generation of m5....my dad used to own an e39 m5......the powertrain is awesome....but i find it hard to say one is more fun than the other because of SMG. Take a drive in an e60 m5 and see how that 500hp pulls and how quickly that tranny shifts and how it gives a nice long chirrrrup in the first 4 gears and how fast you are going you will be thankful you can keep both hands on the wheel and perfectly rev match everydownshift without a second thought to heel toeing. you will be having so much fun you wont even remember the clutch
Supercharged 95 BMW 540i M-Sport
good point urban...i would guess that at least 75% of people do confuse them with regular auto or shiftable auto's......but as for the e39 being nicer on the interior...i dunno about that
e39
e60
if anything they are comparable...i dont think one is significantly "nicer" than the other but i guess that is an opinion
i can definitely say that the suede headliner in the e60 is pretty pimp
just a note i did pull these pics off of ebay because they have better resolution than crappy car domain....hopefully they work
