Hey there... I am tempted to get a skyline gts-t RB20det ....1991. I can get one for around $6000 CAN ( roughly $4500 US). I am leaning towards the GTST over the GTR (which sell for $14000 CAN) due to the fact that I dont ever want to face the payment of fixing AWD or all wheel steering. NON THE LESS... any thoughts or comments making around 300-330HP out of one of these units? Think I could make that kind of power for less then $4000 CAN added on to the sticker price?
Thanks
get on the nissan forums, dude..they'd know far better than the folks around here.
Dont you have to pay an ass load in emisions to make them "legal" in Canada?

Nope....sure dont. You gotta pay such taxes in BC....but it isnt heck of alot. There is ZERO pollution laws in Alberta.
get the gtr.
there is no reason to get any of the lesser models.... you might as wel just buy an accord.
you car remove the 4ws system without too much bother, and you will never have a problem with the awd... you can even disconnect it on an r32 by pulling a fuse, or putting a swith on it.

what does that have to do with modding a 91 sktline

wtf are you talking about?
on an r32 you can remove a fuse to disable the awd as the planetary diff will not direct power to the front wheels in that situation.
on the r33, and r34 you cannot do it as easily.
he was worried about the cost of upgrading to a gtr, because of the awd and 4ws,,,, but clearly there is no reason to worry about such things.
Darkstars spends too much time with VW's. R32 describes the generation of the Skyline, not the VW R32.
First of all, I'd like to thank certain JBO'ers for being such Cobalt-nut-sucking tools.
Secondly, I'd like to thank Travis Kearny and Jordan Kruger for being so entertaining.

um who cares if its a gtr or not. i dont even think the rb26 is in the gtr in those years.
and RWD can out do the performance of AWD when setup properly.
Modding the RB20DET is just like moding any other engine with turbo. up the boost with supporting mods.
Your goal of 300-330hp should be simple to get to. and stock turbo should breath up to that range im not sure on its specs at this time but a turbo from a VG30DET fits the manifold (according to skyline forums). I would say bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump, SAFC or other air/fuel controller, boost controller, and aftermarket boost guage. FMIC kit with hard pipes and a turbo back exhaust would put you nicely in the area of power your looking for.
Let me know if there is any other info you need to know about.

please dont help him as you dont know the car at all.
the rb26 is in the r32 gtr.
The 91 Skyline will not need anything other than papers and Registry with the
RIV.
You WILL need to have it inspected and safetied if you plan to import it, and this must be done by appointment @ Canadian Tire, no you may not use another inspection agent, none have the license.
If you are importing: go to the RIV site first and find out what it is that has to be done.
If you are buying from a dealer: get the information on the vehicle and ask to see copies of the clearance letter that certifies the car has completed all recall programs.
If you want to modify the RB engine, I'd point you towards Jim Wolf Technology and their authorised dealers, or your local NISMO dealer. I'd thought about importing a Skyline, but it didn't turn out to be affordable at the time.
If it's not network news, it's probably the truth getting out.

if ur not going for the GTR and going with the GTST you might as well go with a rx7 gtr or a mr2 turbo insted,

but they're a dime a dozen.

heck yes they are....and when they break, you can fix them without having to have parts imported and not having to take out a loan
When you do get a (HCR/HNR32) GTS-t Skyline, upgrade the side mount intercooler to a full front mount, although you might have to change the front bumper to the (BNR32) GTR32 Skyline. Look into an HKS T04E, they are good for 400hp. You will want to upgrade the exhaust system and you will have to get colder spark plugs, upgrade the fuel delivery and get the proper tuning done. You might want to also look into TOMEI Cams and beef up the internals.
The following info/pictures were found on

RB20 Engine

this GTS-t makes 235kw (325hp) at the wheels and has the following mods
T04E turbo at 16psi boost
Turbosmart external Gate mounted on modified std manifold
044 fuel pump
z32 air flow meter
600 x 300x 73 tube and fin intercooler
3'' turbo back exhaust
Chipped std ecu
It runs the std injectors and std pressure regulator
The stock injectors are capable of up to 240rwkw (321rwhp).
Any other question, let me know by PM. I can ask a few buddies of mine that are in Okinawa and mainland Japan.

I don't want understand why anyone would want RHD car in North America.. Drive thru's would be a major pain, drive thru banks would be a pain.. And driving on the left side of the road, in the right hand side of the car would be really hard to get used to.. Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather mod a 'stang

I remember a buddy of mine that had a mustang in Japan. He had those troubles that you pointed out. He usually drove backwards through drive thrus. Its a spectacle to see.

get your lazy fat ass out of the car and go up to the counter!
we had 2 gtr's this summer, and they are not a pain to drive. some things are more difficult, such as left turns (you just wait until the light goes yellow if your view is blocked), and even worse are all of the stupid fan bois that constantly bother you with stupid comments and questions...
but then again the point is why by a 2.0l grocery getter skyline piece of junk just for the name... the hassles of rhd, compounded by the parts issues (although you can get most parts from the nissan dealer), and the fact that you will be getting smoked by just about every car on the road away from the lights until you throw a few grand into it. buying a non-gtr is really pointless. the gtr is the only car in the range worth importing. like was said earlier, if you want to cheap out on the 2l car, you might as well get an mr2, 300zx, etc...
GTS-T would have the same power(i believe) but it would be going to the rear wheels, rather than all 4...which would end up in less power LOST through the trans...
ummm NO.
gtst was around 210hp.
the gtr was claimed 276hp. the awd system acted as a rwd ALL the time until slippage occured or you were cornering.
the gtst is a lame duck that would lose in the 1/4 mile to a stock 2.4 cavalier. what a waste of time and money.
