I was watching TV today and a Civic Si commerical came on boasting 197hp for the 2006 model. I decided to check it out at honda.com, and it said the '06 Si had 160 hp. What gives?
Now this is a fricking dilemma...
no idea... maybe an added option ups the power? i dont know
This one alright mods?
that last one wasnt half as bad as others I've seen on here...
maybe it comes with extra strength vtak fluid?

and it still has better reliability than your car.

the base RSX has a 160 hp engine and the Type S has a 200(197). i think the new civic is the same(with the Base Civic = Base rsx and the SI = the Type S)

how does it have better reliability and how would you know it just came out. whose to say it doesnt have a bunch of recalls and defects to it. you cant say a car isnt reliable just by what type of car it is. it all is about how you take care of it and treat your car. if you do the maintenance and pay attention to detail then the car will last and be reliable. now if you just drive the crap out of it and dont ever take care of it of course its not going to be as reliable
Ironically it now says the page is down for maintenance. Maybe they got your memo................................
Oh please, Civic's are f*ckin rice burners. They'd have a decent rep if bastard ricer wannabe's didn't ruin them by sticking on god awful muffler tips . . .
The new Civic looks real nice though. I remember seeing that it was 197 before too. Perhaps thats cause of the 6-speed?
Just be glad that they didnt pick Cavaliers to be the big ricer trend.
What would this conversation be like then?
How many steps to heaven, Doc?
...Ah, metaphysics.

they didn't?
i thought most all sport comacts were fair game to them
other cars, better cars?

well, let's see...if i take a Civic or Corolla out and beat the everloving piss out of it, it'll still run. if i take a cavalier out and do the same thing, it is significantly less likely to do so.

No the base civic has it's own all new 1.8L k series putting out 140hp and getting better gas milage than the previous 1.7L 115hp. That's honda.

Actually the 06 base Civic engine isn't a 1.8L K-series enigne it's a new series R-series.. The big difference being that the K-series are DOHC while the R-series are SOHC.
To clear things up the SI on handa.com is still the 2005 Civic SI (the hatchback mini van looking one, which has the base RSX engine) if you looked a little closer before posting there'd be no confusion. The 2006 Si isn't quite out yet.. (though from what I've heard it should be out this month sometime)

do you know that for a fact have you gone out and tried? what your stating is an opinion. opinion < fact . we could sit here all day debating on this but the point is that no one has proof so its a pointless debate. i never stated that civics were not reliable just stated its a civic who cares. meaning it really has nothing to do with the company more or less the driver that gets put in it. most if not all civic owners at least were im from all are cocky about there stock cars with 5 inch tip and metal picnic table spoiler and 30 color body kit thats held on by zip ties.
oh lordy.
i'm the resident corolla nerd for a reason. corollas and civics have almost identical repair records. YES i have beat the everliving piss out of both corollas and civics just to see how long they'd last. a few friends of mine did the same thing to a few salvaged eco cavaliers, just to test our theory.
take a WILD guess which cars lasted the longest. i'm sure you can guess, since i already gave you the answer.
yep, the Japanese cars lasted longer.

salvaged?
thats not really a fair comarison
other cars, better cars?
umm he must have seen the 05 they have 160hp
btw the 06 is NOT listed on there website yet
Corolla and RX7 nerd wrote:all cars had severe body damage but had sound motors and transaxles. how is that not a fair comparison?
you didnt say thaty
all you said was that the cavaliers were salvaged
which means they were sitting there for a while
