Need help turning left on highbanked 3/8 oval.

Hi

I'm looking for input setting up my 2.2 96 cavalier at a local asphalt track 3/8 mile highbank.. It is a hornet class .I can only run 195/70 r14 or 185/70r13 tires ,no stager allowed all 4 tires must remain the same size, suspension must "appear" stock. turns mid 20's to low 21's. with factory alignment specs. I need to get her into the 19's to be competative. it is a blast ,this thing rocks on dirt.. but I'm new to asphalt racing..

also wondering if there are any engine or pcm mods avail.

any info springs /tire/alignment or anything greatly appreciated

thanks,
George

add some camber to the right front and toe out the tire 1/8 of an inch. Find a way to stiffen the right front strut. I had a bent strut that not only gave me some serious camber, but also stiffened the right side of the car up a bunch.

Guy's thanks for the tips, I also recieved a very informative PM ..i'll give em a try and keep ya posted.

this class is dominated by imports but I think i can "giv'em a run for the money" .

That damaged strut idea is clever, I may have to have a controlled accident in my back yard with the" international scout" LOL......

Thanks

Well, the guy I used to work with who raced oval track (asphalt though) had MAD negative camber on the right front, i'd imagine that at least some up there would help you out too.

I dont know much about circle racing. but i was alway wondering . The front brakes do a biggest percent of the stoping. If a person would swicth the brake lines so both front lines were working the left side would that increase brake pressure on that side?? just a thought I am probably wrong. i have been before !!

What are your rules? I heated my springs on all but the right rear.

As for the strut, take it off, wallow the mounting holes so they are oval in shape. Shave the back of the strut behind it, and it will force it to angle in.

Install a 1" Addco rear sway bar. Paint it, and the mount brackets flat black for the stock appearing rules.

Slot the lower strut mount holes and install Ingalls fast cams top and bottom to add <your rules legal herel> camber.

Dunlop D2+ tires work well.

Weight is the enemy, get rid of every legal ounce.
