a while my 2007 cobalt go broken into and now every time i try to start it a padlock comes up where the mliage comes on, i tryed to call the deailership today, and they toll me i have to talk to service and they are only open on weekdays and i need to go to work today at 1:30 today can any body help me out??????????

Well..since this is a jbody site your going to have issues finding the solution here. Id try a cobalt forum such as cobaltss.com or something.

That is for the security system, you will most likely have to get it towed to GM dealer in your area

its definately the security system. what was damaged in the breakin. was the key switch damaged? i know on the malibus, if you put the key in and turn to the on position, do not try to start, and wait atleast ten minutes, the computer will relearn the key and turn off the security light. but i dont know if that will work on the cobalt. good luck

you could also try a mobile electronics shop that does remote starts. they would be able to tell why the security is tripped.

on second thought, have you done any stereo upgrades? if these arent interfaced properly, it can mess with your factory security and even cause damage to your engine! if this is the case, keep driving to a minimum and have it checked out ASAP.
