Car stalls whlie driving and has trouble starting.

Hey guys im new here and basically joined to see if anyone had the same problem i am having and if they found a soloution to it. Well i have a 94' Z24 with a 3.1. with about 88,000 miles on it. The motor makes a tapping noise and thinking its a lifter. I dont really know if that is contributing to my bigger problem which is that the car will stall whlie i am driving. It is also a pain to start once in a while, sometimes taking 20 minutes! The battery and the alternator are both working good so i have been able to eliminate them from the problem.... if anyone out there has a possible soloution to this nagging and somewhat dangerous problem please e-mail me... the address is thegreat1650@aol.com if i dont have it posted on here. Thanks for the help!

What kind of condition is the fuel filter in? Has the car had a tune up plugs wires etc?
Any Engine light on? Has the fuel pump been tested for the correct Psi?

It always helps to have the specs about ur car in ur registry!!!!!Do you have a automatic or manual trans? While the symptoms u described are not really out of the ordinary,U really need to be as specific about the issue.U said it dies while driving it,so is that while u are moving at 35mph or coming to a stop. Please clarify this so we can better help u to narrow down the issue.I cannnot really post so various things that may cause just that there are so many. Please tell us if u have done a tune up on it if so,what did u replace, and we can fix this issue.OK and the starter and ignition switch swtich would clearly NOT be the problem while the car is running.
