Hey guys. this is kinda random but just wondering what you guys thought. i can not seem to chirp my tires into second with ma cavy. its a 5 speed 2.2 with an intake and catback exhaust, and ive only gotten it to do it twice out of many times and it really wasnt much. it feels like the tranny isnt engaging quick enuff. its weird because my 93 nissan pickup truck i can chirp anytime i want. wondering if u guys can chirp it easy with a pretty stock car.
u should be able to, i can chirp 'em pretty good w/ my girl's 95 cavy 2.2 ohv. must be something wrong w/ your tb because u SHOULD be able to get rubber in 2nd

its weird i dunno maybe im being dumb but i know how to do it in my truck, and i can do it fine, and that thing is a hell of alot heavier and slower then my cav. and its completly stock engine wise. my cav just fights it...
maybe not shifting at right point?...i do it everytime...occasionally 3rd
well u gotta remember, your pick-up is rear-wheel drive and rear wheels are easier to spin 9/10 times plus i'm sure the rear is light as all heck if it ain't 4wd.

well any suggestions? maybe cavaliers are picky, i get it close to redlining and pop it into second and it just wont do it. i barley take my foot off the gas, its frustarting me, not that its a big deal.

but still should be able to chirp em at least a lil bit...try shifting at like 5700 as fast as u can lol
Chirping is really easy for my car..well because i have a Z..but i dont do it anymore cuz i heard its bad for the tranny.
^^^yeah, try shifting faster, cluthch, gas, bing bang boom.^ and yeah it's not too healthy for the tranny but it's sooooo much darn fun lol

To chirp either have to have a good amount of power or let the clutch slip.

Don't let off the gas and shift as fast as you can. I used to be able to get my friends 2.0L Zetec Focus to chirp second all the time. This definitely isn't a good idea and will hurt the clutch and transmission.
A pick'em truck's rear end is so light, even a 4x4s, I know I own one, that spinning the tires is extremely easy. I do it all the time accidentaly at about 1/4 throttle, granted I have a Hemi, but I also have a Limited-Slip rear end and 3.55 gears.

Yella02-I promise I will return to you in one piece and this will stay up until I am safely home
Well I know after I replaced my stock clutch with my SPEC, I was able to chirp MUCH easier/better than ever. Today for example I was headed to work, and it may be because I was turning but I shifted to second at 4K and they didnt chirp they spun like heck. It wasnt wet either.

if you're that hard up for a chirp you could always just do one on a corner. its a lot easier than doing one from a start.
yeah, it's easier but spinning around a corner is a good way to shred an axle

My 04 will chirp second and third if I'm runnin it hard.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
My 95 GT (2.3 Quad 4) will chirp 1st, 2nd, and 3rd... Only time I ever chirp them though is if I'm really really ticked off and go for a drive to cool off... afterwards I apologize to my car for abusing it
I try to stay away from it... and haven't done it in quite a while... I can't afford to replace the tranny now lol.

Try not going all the way to redline. If i remember right 2.2 do not make power all the way up to the red line. it starts dropping off a little. Correct me if i'm wrong.
New sig in the works
it does pull hard close to redline, but then it drops off shortly there after. and i got it to do it but its still picky but its all good thanks for your help guys
I find this thread humorous
it shouldnt be that hard to chirp second, i chirp 3rd all the time and all ive got is an intake as far as the engine goes, try a short throw shifter maybe?
maybe u need a cluth urs is slipping.. also depends on ur tires with my 18's with kuhmo's its alot harder with my stocks i can get rubber in 3rd sometimes..
