Transporter's '11 Progress

Well with a new year comes a new thread. I finally got my GoPro HD HERO back from a warranty replacement, and I've been working on getting some decent footage, I say working, but it's all fun

It was close enough to progress, haha.

I'm pretty sure all I need is new lifters, timing chain and gaskets and I'll have all the parts I need. Then I just need $600 for head work, $150 for a tune, and I have to modify my cams. After that it should be all down hill.

I think I'm going to paint the head and the towers the same color that I painted my transmission. It looks like brand new case aluminum and it's holding up great on my tranny, so I'm liking it.

The AutoX bug has also got a firm grasp on me, so I'm looking at picking up a set of VW 17" Longbeaches from a friend. I'll run them with a decent set of summer tires and get another pair of Azenis for my Z wheels to use at solo events.

The other thing I have to worry about is my bottom end has 156,000 miles on it, and on days like today where it's -4F I get a slight cold knock until the engine gets some heat in it. I'm not sure how long it's going to last, it's had a hard life.

The first video, I was unimpressed.
The second video was pretty sick. I've been trying to nail a bootleg like that for weeks. I can get the 180 spin and keep going in reverse, but the 180 back to forward always ends with me coming to an almost complete stop. How do you keep the slide/speed going?

FYI for the azenis on your backup rims.... the 615's are discontinued.... and now you have to get the 615K which is like $200 more for all 4. will be ordering mine probably friday or so.

There are a couple factors, the main one being speed, I'm lucky enough to have pretty much a perfect parking lot to play in, with very little in the way of hazzards, I was probably getting close to 45-50mph on a couple of those runs. But if you're having trouble with reverse flicks it try to build more speed in reverse before you flick it, and punch the gas as you flick to really get it rotating. Put the clutch in once you are half way through the turn, dab the brakes to be nice to your synchros and power out.

I've been meaning to take an in car vid of me doing them, I honestly couldn't tell you what my hands are doing half the time, haha, it's all second nature now.

Yeah, last summer I had to order a single tire from two different places because it was the last of the 615's available, good thing is I got them cheap. Bad news is they only lasted me 3 months, hahaha... so I think they are going to end up the track tires.

Most people don't like it but I order tires in pairs, it just seems to work out for me better, and our cars under steer so bad the added grip in the front and limited grip in the back balances my car very nicely for solo events.

It was $250 on Amazon, and it'd definitely worth it, I've been shooting video of everything, hahaha

Ahh, I've never heard anyone call it that. Good to know.

I've been looking for a name for the both moves together, the handbrake turn into reverse 180 is a bit long to write, haha.

Well it took forever, but I finally received all my parts from Japan from Steve (Cavalier2000).

Mad tyte JDM boxes...

Trunk liner, aka cat fort...

Toyota driver's side airbag

Japanese license plates and sun visors

Fuse panel covers, reservoir caps, flare, tow hook and Burger King drift toy, lol

Why in the world the US Cavaliers didn't come with tow hooks is beyond me...

And an in cabin FM antenna, if I ever decide to shave my external antenna

The tow hook mounts to the passenger side rear frame rail, Steve took pics for me before he pulled it

The flair mount is missing a piece, but they all have part numbers on them so I'm gonna see if I can order one from GM. I've also gotta figure out where the flare was mounted... I have no idea, lol

The flare mounted on the JDM passenger side in the hole for the USA hood latch. That was why they created it to take up that hole. At least that is what I was told.

After seeing the pics of the tow mount I'm not as excited about it.

I actually think I'm going with Smoosh's Nex-O PX5s instead... I've wanted PX5s for a long time and the price difference isn't much.

I wonder which is heavier? I keep hearing long beaches are heavy as hell, but then again so are 18" PX5s.

Ahh, werd.

And lol, it sticks down below the rear lip, that's all I was worried about. What were you expecting?
