I got to assembling the new motor weekend of OCt 26th
Head torn off, clean 11k miles, everything is spotless
Studs installed and custom HG on
Ported head is on and tq'd, Comp stage 3 cams installed shortly after by ryan, no pics, adjustable cam gears were installed by ryan on the 26th and the motor was timed as well..
it's def coming along!
Here is a huge update, finished motor assembly, and the swap is this coming friday/saturday!

Gotta love ecotecs... factory blocks with oil return locations for saab's just gotta drill and tap, I did just that! I tapped it hard!
Return fitting I am running... I am switching over to all 10 an nylon braided hose, lightweight and black, as well as all anodized black fittings
Cleaning the mating surface for the new RTV oil pan gasket... mm so nice, rods are real beefy shame I couldn't get a decent pic

It's coming along! Questions? Comments? Swap is this weekend, and it should be firing and tuned by saturday. On 10 psi I am hoping for 300+ whp, should be attainable seeing as that at 10 psi on a 2.2 with stock head/cams/valvetrain/poor tune I was at about 280 whp.

I cannot tell you how infinitely easier this was the second time around
everything from disassembly to timing her up, it felt like forever when i was building mine and we literally had phil's together in a few hours over a couple (two) nights (and probably about a case of beer). I have a good feeling about this weekend too, with the experienced help around. Really, there's no reason for her not to be in tuning by mid-day saturday if not earlier.
I'm looking forward to seeing the potential of this swap exploited. This is the third hybrid of this type that i know of (mine and EcoFiero's), but the first with forced induction to really take advantage of the proven bottom end. Phil has lofty goals, but this thing is all buisness and it's only going to get better when the new equal-length mani and bigger turbo go on

. I would have loved to be there for the work you and John did on adapting the LD9/LN2 electonics to the eco, and i have a feeling that work will help in my next project
