OEM v.s aftermarket

Just wanted to open up a new thread for fun and get opinions from everyone on the org. What do you prefer, OEM headlights or projectors? Ive always been biased between them. Here are some pics to show my headlights in both OEM and aftermarket for comparison. If you all have any feel free to post!

for 95-99 the 1 piece projectors are the only way to go. I could careless about the lighting part, but the clean look of the 1 piece housiong is where it is at.

On your car, projectors hands down. They work on yours, but honestly, I hate those 1 piece HALOs. Something about them looks cheap, and they look dumb on most cars... I personally love my OEM + HID combo.

I liked my black housing units without the projectors, but I hate my own sunfire lights that I have now, I'm probably going to put clear
lenses on the stock housings and call it done, I do have a pair of Lincoln mkz projectors collecting dust but I just don't want to get into the retrofitting of it all

The one piece projectors are too busy, but the fact that they are one piece is a bonus. IMO the cleanest looking lights you can simply purchase and put on your car are the OEM style with the crystal clear lens. I'm not even sure if you can find them these days, but they're a nice looking light. That being said, I'm a big fan of good quality projectors (particularly a cleanly done retrofit with OEM HID units) , and I hate OEM housings with rebased bulbs thrown in them that blind oncoming traffic.

Quiklilcav, when you say crystal clear lens, do you mean these? They look good IMO.

Guys.....I have some baking to do! Im going to make my headlights look like the ones in the link above. First I need to find my first pair of crappy ebay projectors I bought a long time ago so I can use the clear lens. Ill post some new pics later and explain how the project went! Be back in a few hours.

Yep, those are them. I hadn't seen them on there in a while. I've gone back and forth a few times if I want to go with those or retrofit my original APC projectors. I have decided on the latter. I'm retrofitting them with Valeo D1R projector units. Hopefully they'll turn out as I'm planning.

I made my own version of the clear headlights but instead I blacked them out. Id like to thank my oven for the baking! Lol

Not bad, but I'd black out the inside of the corners and lose the paint on the lenses.

I like those clear lenses over the stock lights. Hmmm, ideas.... And gus, ur car can pull off the projectors real nicely, but those clear lights look alot better. Also, what bumper is that, its nice as hell!!!!

I like the 1 piece projectors, But like Quik said, They are just too busy.

So I had just cleared my stock corners and got some black housing projectors.

OEM

Projectors

I like the latter

Gus, you've got me thinking now. A set of factory housings, corner housings, and bumper housings black chromed with clear lenses could be hot.

Thanks everybody for the comments. Here is a hint of what Ill finish tomorrow.

No these are not the weak looking LED strips with the tiny squared lights from advance auto parts. I ordered these high powered daytime running lights when I got my projectors but I figured it would be too much lighting with the CCFL halo rings so I just left them sitting around until now. Tomorrow I will tuck away the wiring, center them a little more and take some daytime pics. Cant wait to see how bright they look during the day!

Instructions on how to bake the lights to get the lenses off? And you just painted the insides black right?

i baked mine on 300 with the door close lol... but be careful the black plastic becomes very brittle depending on the condition.

Re: OEM v.s aftermarket

i baked mine at 200 for ten minutes a piece when i did my clear corners over the weekend. but those are 03 headlights, i'm not sure if the baking time's would change for the older lights.
