New Cat-Back Setup

Well I got my exhaust done this weekend! Juds in Brunswick OH bent it for me. They did a good job in good time. All Stainless Steel with a 17" resonator and Dynomax Super Turbo Muffler. 2.25 in from the cat-back.

Took a couple Sound clips to give everyone an idea of the sound. C&C Welcome!

Id have posted them yesterday but i couldn't help but spend the rest of the day driving =P

Small Rev Clip

A couple of shots from the outside. 3 passes, the final one more aggressive.

And from the Inside.

Keep in mind, I also have an AEM CAI in it so that may alter the sound a bit.

Oh, and here are some pics of it, and my new JBO Stickers!

very nice! i can tell it sounds much better in person!
almost like my set up....AEM CAI, Magnaflow 2.5 catback but no resonator...i dont think you need one until you see how it sounds with a cat...just my opinion though...lol
great work! (we all love the crotch shot vid. )

=P That's the best i could come up with without the camera Rollin' around. It was supposed to include my B&M Short Throw, but apparently I'm bad with camera's.

Thanks Guys!

Nice...kinda what i was looking for too...what kind of sound/power difference would you get by using 2.5" and a header ?

my thoughts exactly...thats why i went with 2.5" and saving for the armor coated pacesetter cobalt SS header as we speak. 2.25 is just too narrow imo

Unless you plan on going for boost, 2.25" is perfect for the Ecotec. If you plan on doing a header and everything else, you should also get a high flow cat and do the entire exhaust or it is pretty pointless, as that will be a pretty big bottleneck.

Oh yeah..high flow cat is on the list too for me. Emissions testers are pretty anal around here if you get the wrong one.Sounds good on your car, Kris..Might get deeper with the other goodies like the bigger exhaust and a header, cat too

Yeah for sure. Tose things will completely change the sound. The rest of the exhaust i will have done later on. This will do for now. I missed the feel of a cav that can BREATH.

Even if there isn't a huge difference in performance with an exhaust, having the extra sound always makes you feel and think you are going faster

sounds good from the vids. the 10-55 pull was that full throttle? jw. sounds good without being too loud though nice choice.

Yeah the pull was full throttle. The 10 to 55 was an estimate though. It was 'ostly 2nd gear to atleast 55 mph. I'm lovin it!

Suggestions on 2.25" headers? Im not familiar with 4-2-1 / 4-1 differences. Im working on gettin 2.25" all the way back.

Whats the difference in power? Sound? Efficiency?

Thanks!

If you looking at headers, the Pacesetter LSJ header is one of the best ones for our cars.

Great muffler choice I'm glad I changed mine to a super turbo. Oh also it sounds better with age.

Dynomax Super Turbo's are a great muffler--we've recommended them for years, and run'em on our personal vehicles, too. I'm honestly surprised there's a raspiness to it, especially with that resonator incorporated. However, it is true that there's a break-in period to mufflers. You'll find the tone will mellow out over the next few weeks.

The only critiques I have surround that hanger (could've been bent differently so the rubber hanger wouldn't be stressed all the time) and the strap on the muffler itself. These mufflers are of...well...lesser quality than stock and will rust out easier. At some point, you might wanna consider having that strap jet-coated, or at least cleaned and painted. The rust from it will transfer to the muffler and shorten it's life span.

I wasnt so happy with the hangar myself. It has since rusted out very badly. Cheap stuff.

Thanks for the heads up, i will take the advise. Would you recommend having the strap redone completely? Or will painting it do the trick? I know from my old setup that stress on the rubber mount can stretch it which allowed my old exhaust to bump on the rear axle. Thanks again.

And maybe i will evan. Im bored around here lol

4-2-1 is a good design for boosting midrange power, perfect if your planning on keeping the stock cams and no forced induction. it doesnt hurt the top end either. 4-1 wont hurt low end but is more for top end power. both will make the car a little louder as will the high flow cat but with the rest of your exhaust I wouldnt think too much louder.
