ok this may be the wrong place for this but i don't know where else to put it... i am looking for pictures of your painted blocks... prefer a LD9.. but any will do...

also did you just use high temp paint?
what kind of prep did you do?
how many layers?

and any thing else you think i should know.... i want it to try and make it last for a while and i am going to try and go with an Aluminum look to it.. as i just love every time i have the LS1 up on stands looking at that sexy aluminum block....

thanks again all... also if this isnt in the right place i am sorry...

My friends and I have had painted engine blocks for years now, mainly V8s. You will have to clean it real good, maybe even wire brush it, and make sure to wipe it down. My 350 V8 is painted gloss black. Darker colors hide dirt and any grime that might get on it. I have had small chips happen, but easy to touch up.

My friends blown, fuel injected 355 is painted chromalusion, ( green, purple, and gold) looks awesome.

BIG BOOST

alright thats what i though... im going to try and take it to my mechanics teacher from high school and see if he can get it cleaned... since we had a tank thing there specificaly for this... and then i got wire brushes that attach to a drill that i will use...

so just 2 coats will do... there isnt any base coat or clear coat type thing needed?

We usually put a couple coats of clear. I would paint the dark blue of your car. That would look sweet. I don't think people would notice if your painted an aluminum color.

The sunbird block was painted with some spray crap I found in a shop I used to work at... turned out good, before it was cool to paint your engine radical colors. The cam tower wasn't so lucky.. just flat black high-heat paint.
