Ignition switch plastic removal?

How do you get the stupid plastic around the ignition switch off without breaking it?? I know it comes off somehow... because when my old car used to get broken into all the time, it was always broken off and the body shop replaced it every time...

And because you're asking "Why?"... I swapped the Passkey 3 into my car with the L67 swap... got two PK3 keys off Ebay, took them to the dealer and got them cut to my key code... now I need to install the PK3 'ring' around my ignition switch so it'll work... but the plastic piece is in my way, and I can't figure out how to remove it without breaking it in half.....

so your saying the lower trim peice that goes around the column? if thats what your talking about then you just have to unscrew the screws underneath and unscrew the tilt lever and pop it off.... hopefully that helps!

SOLD....

He's talking about the plastic do-hickey that the key goes in.

you might have to remove the lock cylinder to get that piece off. I don't see anything in SI for it.

Yeah, the first part of the lock cylinder... where the key goes into. I didn't see anything in the GM stuff either

I might have to head to the wreckers to "test" one
