i have a 2000 sunfire and was wondering if there was a company that sells the interior plastic parts...i had a friend paint mine and he got shipped off to iraq before he could finish and i dont even want to try to finish painting it myself. kinda tired of driving my car with half the inside not finished. any help would be appreciated.
junk yard, or a gm dealership if you wanna pay out the ass
Hit the junkyards...if you have trouble finding what you need try car-part.com.
Jason, which junkyard did you get your stuff from? I need to find new door panels, top dash peices, center console, and a few more smaller peices...
Mythril - Junkyard seems like the best place to look.
Yeahhhh, wish you didnt paint it huh? I really dont get it, why paint the plastic when it will inevitably get chipped and scratched off, leaving it looking awful. then you got to paint it again, and a gain... To replace the parts is awful. I saw a dash pad painted, thats a 300 dollar pad on the cavs and 400 on the sunfires. If you guys would check to see how much the stuff costs before painting, you just might change your mind.

Cause lots of peoples stay lookin good, like the dude I just quoted above. I think we all know how much the parts cost, hence why we don't go to the dealer for them. Plus, if you do it right, your dash pad shouldn't chip and it should stay the same color.
And back to the original question, depending on how he painted them, you may be able to strip the paint off. There was just a post on removing paint from plastic pieces on a motorcycle and it turned out you can use brake fluid and the paint will come off. Granted ur gonna need quite a bit to do some interior pieces but it might be cheaper than buying new ones.

well brake fluid didn't work. i asked around some junk yards and was getting ready to buy a whole new interior...might as well just goo all out instead of buying original pieces. Then i was doing some work on a house with a friend and had to get some paint at lowes when i saw this
Goo Off Graffiti Remover
this stuff works great...just broke the paint up and with some wiping i had a clean piece of plastic with no damage to the piece. i highly recommend this stuff.

or you can just paint it right so it doesnt chip or scratch very easily and it looks great for years and years. with what you said im wondering if your exterior of your car is painted since well its just going to get scratched up and look bad.

true enough if you paint it right then it will last. As for that good stuff did it work for the plastic pieces and the vynal pieces as well? my buddy wants his interior back to stock but I haven't heard of anything that will strip the paint without ruining the original finish.
