I painted my dash black with duplicolor. Not even a week has gone by and i have cracks. can I do something else or just sand down and repaint it.?????????
did you even prep it at all? rub alcohol on it to get all the grease off? sand? primer the piece? sand? paint? sand? paint? etc...
yes I cleaned it!!!! maybe i should take it all down and re-do it!!!
prime it first.... if u dont want to do that tho i suggest wetsanding it. i wetsanded some of my stuff and it turnd out amazing it looks real nice and smooth. i did the plastic surrounding the stero. So wat i find best is to get some find sand paper like a 400, then make sure its waterproof. ( i suggest GatorGrit sand paper) then go outside hose down ur console and get at it. (keep adding water as u go, just best have the hose running on the water the whole time u scrub makes it easier. lastly take ur time and scrub evenly and get it sanded very clean. Goodluck
is there any fabric on your dash?
I spraypainted my dash a month ago and I have no problems, despite having my car parked in the sun 8 hours a day, 5 days a week when school was still in. And just to let you know, Houston is a very hot and very very humid city. No cracks, spray painted once and that was it.
I think you have cracks because you might have added on more then one coat. The more coats you add, the more it'll crack. I learned that in the art class that I reluctantly had to take this year, came out helpful though.

i painted mine over a year ago and its still fine... clean it sand with 1500 grit........prime with non metalic primer then paint....do not overapply or paint will not stick....and wil not turn out right... then put clear coat on...it adds shine and will provide a protective serface.......
I used trim paint on my dash, before i spray painted it with the trim paint, I used a spray adhesive.... I live in Florida... no cracks for me, I just started using dupli color on the door trim though.... I'm not sure if thats going to crack at all...
if its the dash I'm thinking of.... you don't want to use sand paper.
