Yup, you definately need a steering wheel puller. Be carefull around the airbag, even mechanics have them go off. It can be a difficult tasc. Alot harder I hear than doing the passenger side, or so say the mechanics at my shop.
I would like to know how to unmount the steering wheel from a 99 cav it doesnt have airbag...need to put the sport hub.. already remove the wheel but there is a metal part with screws that cant be remove with a screwdriver
Anyone please, if you have any picture or something will be great

Actually, that was more of a warning as oppose to a smart comment.
Ok first thing, I am not 100% sure on this one, but it's worth checking into. When I pulled out my wheel, a friend who works at Tweeter told me that if one bag is removed, the system reads fault and neither will deploy. That could really help you if your pass. side is already out.
Second, this is for Ramses. I don't have pics, but I think I know what plate you are talking about in the column. It comes out with a snap ring, but beware. It holds back a compressed spring. If you take it out, you will need a special tool to compress, and reinstall it when you're done. The tool is not real expensive, but I had to run all over the place to find one. From my experience (and I've only done it twice, once on an airbag model, and once on a non) it is a b@#ch to get it back together even with the tool. I hope that helps.
I already did it, =P.. it was for a friend who wanted to remove the original hub... I only told him to buy a puller and that was all, that thing came out really fast... hehe!! his doesnt have airbags so it was easier
Thanks Tinman, although I already did it!!!
