Issues with driver side power window

Hey guys I am still having issues with my driver side power window in my '04 fire....

It all stemmed from taking my car to the CT emissions center and the guy checking my car started messing with the window so now I am trying to get it fixed because the emissions center supposedly wasn't liable for any "damages"... I was not allowed in the garage when the tech was checking the emissions on my car but he told me that he had issues with the window going up so I ended up driving home with the window stuck half way up.... I suspect that he may have gotten scared that he broke the window and may have started to pull up on it to make it return. Frankly I don't understand why he had to mess with the window in the first place, it worked perfectly fine all day until I brought it to the emissions center....

Anyways, at one point, I was unable to open or close my driver side window so I purchased a new center console switch from GM and installed it. The window works, but now the window does not operate smoothly....

If I were to open the window to about half way I can put it back up with no problems. Now if I were to open the window completely the window acts as if it is jammed in that it will go up to the mid-point and stop. If I keep my finger on the button and play with the window a bit, the window eventually returns all the way up.

My question is if anyone has experienced this before and knows if the motor or regulator could be failing. Oh well, I just want to fix it without having to purchasing a brand new motor and regulator and finding that it still doesn't work correctly....

I had a similar problem with mine in an 01 z24 it was working fine then one day I notice it stop about half way up. I would wait a few minutes then it would go the rest of the way. It only got worse to the point where I had to pull the window up to get it to close. I went to a local pick a part ( you pull) and got a new motor for it. Replaced it and now it works fine. By the way to save time if it happens again replace the rivets with small bolts and nuts.

save yourself the headache and but the whole regulator from the parts store. Dorman brand in particular has redesigned the motor to the never style motor to do away with the POS sandwich flat GM lift motor.

Wish I could get the Dorman regulator for the 3rd gen 'vert. I'd change both of mine just to get the better motors. Maybe their new motor will fit the OEM regulator. (I'll have to look into that.)
