Who sells that piece that goes around the shifter that holds the boot in place? When the shop repaired something on my transmissing they broke that little piece so I need to find a new one and so far NO LUCK!

go here http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/catalog/frameset.cfm then input your car (05, chevy/geo, cavalier) then click on " console ", then click " console " again but it wil be in the center you see it, then click on " shift boot ", then click on " manual trans" and there you go! also if you click on " view illustrion " the part you want is #12

oh also fyi your getting the oem replacement shift boot but it comes with that plastic peice that you need to hold the shift boot to the center console.

I would like to go with an aftermarket boot of some sort, but I still need the plastic piece to hold the aftermarket right?

yessir! when you recieve it just rip the oem boot off the plastic piece and then install your boot of choice. Id suggest redlinegoods.com for some sick custom shift boots
