Sunfire Cluster Swap Problems
Thursday, January 21, 2010 11:13 AM
I have a 2001 Cavalier sedan with currently the stock cluster with no tach. I know that the sunfire cluster is a direct swap. I purchased a Sunfire cluster from an 00-04. When I plugged it in everything worked except the guages. The fuel gauge did not reset to "E" and went out of range on the cluster. I sent the cluster out to be rebuilt, but I received a call from the guy and he said that when he plugged the cluster up, and everything worked fine. He said nothing was wrong with the cluster, and that the problem was in the connector. Has anyone ever heard of this? Is the wiring in the connector different for a tach vs one without a tach. I would think that if its controlled by the computer it shouldn't be a problem.

I know that it is a direct plug and play replacement, but I haven't had much luck with it. If the wiring in the connector is the issue, if anyone has a wiring diagram that would be great. Thanks so much for everyone's help.
