Door latch rattle. Anyone fixed it?
Tuesday, September 15, 2009 5:05 PM
Where the door physically latches to the body of the vehicle, there is an assembly that hooks up to the lock and handle rods. Right at that assembly I have an obnoxious rattle. Does anyone have any tips to fixing that, short of removing the assembly?

I've got vacuum tube wrapped around the rods and I've isolated them from the door by the handle, but right in the guts is where I'm rattlin'.

If I do need to remove them, what needs to be done to stop the rattle?

A piece of styrofoam works well, i think the later models have a adhesive backed padding wrapped around them.

could try adding weight to the rod itself. that way it requires allot more force to get it to move.

Mine has little foam squares. What they remind me of most, is at halloween when you buy face paint, it comes witheh foam sponge applicator. they remind me of that. Just something to add some backing but not be so stiff as to prohibit the rob movement. I can grab some pics if you want? O.o

I turn the volume up.

Your car may do 13 sec @ 103 mph, but my car does 146db @ 35 hz.

Mine has one of those foam squares. White ones right? Though it is pretty squished being 14 years old an all.

I might have a different plan I'll post results in "Brad's Project Thread".
