Ok so I'm in the market of buying new rims. Would a rim with 4in back spacing look/fit right on my cavy?

That's not nearly enough information for anyone to give you an answer.

That's better. In order for the backspacing to mean anything, you need to know the rim size, particularly the width.

That is a low backspacing for our cars, because a 7" rim is actually close to 8" in overall width. This means that with 4" backspacing it is pretty much a zero offset rim. Our cars need a positive offset. On a 7" rim, you want somewhere between 35 and 45mm, which would equate to 5-5.5" backspacing.

With out any offset will it effect performance? Or handling?

The wheels will stick out from under your fender, which in most states is not legal, but also you run a real good chance of rubbing tires in your wheel openings when you turn.
