Alright, tomorrow I'm dropping my '03 cavy with my new springs. Two questions:
1: whats the largest socket size I'll need? I have up to 32mm
2: is there anything that's tricky that I should know about first? (besides loosening the strut before dismounting it)
I'm starting this tomorrow morning (hopefully), so quick replies are greatly appreciated
Thanks
this should be in the suspension forum.
as far as sockets go you'll need an 18mm for the rear lower, a 21 or 22mm for the front lower and some smaller sizes for the upper mounts
Are you replacing the whole strut or just the springs? if your just changing the springs (not recommended to use lowering springs on stock struts) you'll need a spring compressor to get the upper mounts off the struts.
Thanks, posted in the wrong one by accident.
The spring compressor is already on its way...my buddy works at AutoZone and is renting it for me. And yeah, I am putting them on stock struts...I know it's not a good idea, but I couldn't afford the struts yet and this'll force me to save for em since I'm gonna blow my stocks. I know, stupid logic, but I just couldn't stand looking at my springs, so I'm putting 'em on.
ok i think your set then... good luck with the stock struts... i would recommend a wheel alignment when your done too
Alignment is scheduled for monday morning. I just got the spring compressor about an hour ago.
why not just do it once? like wait, get the proper struts, and do it all at once? because you've just going to have to crawl back under your car, do all the work over again, and get it aligned again. not to mention, there's a decent chance of causing an accident...

Cause I'm stubborn, and I don't mind doing the work twice, or the alignment twice.
