Boyd Caddington on a Cavi?
Monday, December 18, 2006 10:01 PM
Hey guys, a guy at my work wants to give me a great deal on some Boyd Caddington rims they're chrome and badass. But like you guys know Boyd Caddington builds hot-rods so I guess they're kind designed for a hot rod or muscle car. So I don't know if they would look weird on my cavi I'm kinda leaning towards yes but I dunno. The problem is that he doesn't have a digital camera and lives kind of far away so he doesn't want to lug the rims all the way up here unless I'm going to buy them so I can't post any pics for you guys to see. Let me know what you guys think thanks

Well to get back track here on wither or not they will work. I think you contact Boyd's company and they make them custom fit to your car.

You don't have to order them custom made..

Ok first of all do you know if they will even fit on your car?

And how about just getting the model name, we can look them up and see what they look like.

Personally, i have yet to see a Boyd wheel that would look good on a cav...

Thats the thing hes not good at what he dose. He doesn't do a damn thing. He has everyone elts do it for him. Ive meet him in person hes an #$%@. Not to mention all the people he screwed over when he filled bankruptcy back in the 90s.

But on the subject of the post if you like the wheels find out the size, bolt pattern & back spacing and we can give you a better idea if they work.

Boyd hasn't been the man since Foose left him to start his own company.

Seems pretty cool to me. Reading other forums, alot of people dont like him based on his tv show. They are people that dont realize how hard it is to run a @!#$ business. No one can deny his designs are good. And remeber he used to build things on his own.

Chip Foose is sick as well, but sometimes I wonder what the @!#$ he is thinking when i watch overhaulin.

lets not forget that CHip Foose used to be Boyds lead designer and designed all of Boyds award winning hot rods, haven't you noticed that boyd keeps losing people to Chip, chip is a great guy and treats his employees with the respect they deserve. and chip still gets his hands dirty.

Boyd was in South Norwalk the other day at Black Bear. He was a a** to one of my friends who asked him if it he was Boyd. All said was, yea, whats it to ya. Leave me alone. Bastard.... lol I assume he musta been in town for a show or something, can't see otherwise why he would be in CT.

if you can't even spell Boyd Coddington's name correctly, i don't think you have much room to talk crap about him... but that's just my opinion.

as for the OP... it all depends on what the rims look like. how can you come in here and as our opinion if we don't have a clue what the rims look like? Coddington makes a lot of different designs, so they might look good, they might not. besides, i've seen a ton of rims that some people like and some don't, so it's really a matter of wether you like them or not, not us. they're for your car, so you decide what you want on it.

I'd lean more towards something else. You asked for a personal opinion, I'll offer it. I actually really do dislike Boyd. He has his hotrods. Great. The crowd in the hotrod scene shrinks every passing year, or so it seems. He specializes in that. Chip, on the other hand could take a Civic, a 454 SS Chevelle or even a damn Kia and make it look good. It takes talent to do either Chip or Boyds work.. but Chip wins for sheer adaptability.

Back to issue at hand, Cannon Fodder is right. It's your personal taste. If you're asking our opinion as a general consensus, then alright. I'm guessing a Boyd-designed wheel will be suited to a chromed out hot-rod. I doubt, unless the car is modified to match the style, that a wheel like that will suit your car. Cavaliers are sport compacts. It's good to diversify your build style, mixing different scenes or whatever.. but it all just boils down to your own intentions.

Show us a pic, or at least something similar to it. Get a pic of your car as well. Then let the flamin -- err, 'general consensus' begin.

I like the more conservative nature of Boyd's designs, Chip is to far out for me. + Boyd's leather guy = MY Fav.
