Anyone know the exact reason why Alloy 2 dynamic balancing is better than plain static balancing.

Dynamic balancing is like... 3D balancing. A static balance tells you to place wieghts at the light spots on the circumference of the wheel. Dynamic does that as well as placing weights on the width of the wheel, so you get a more accurate balance.

Honestly, it won't make a huge difference and static balancing is just fine.

That, or get some Centerlines. Mine need .75 ounces. Total. One wheel needed .25 ounces and another needed .5 ounces.

theres a bit of a description, but to explain it further...

static balance is ok for counter-acting the weight that the tire and rim assembly have. static imbalance in a general description is the amount of travel vertically that the tire and rim assembly see.

now in a perfect world, static balance would be dandy. but in a world with bent rims and not so perfect tires and rims made from not so perfect molds, things arent allways perfectly balanced when they are made. if they were we wouldnt even need to blance with static, nevermind dynamic.

anyways, dynamic takes into acount this imperfections a little better than static balancing does. it takes into acount vertical and horizontal travel. so like zeke said, its like balancing in 3d.

Static balancing is ok, but I would never run it. If I don't want weights on the outside, I do a dynamic balance with sticky weights. Basically what that does is you use clip on weights on the inside lip, and then put sticky weights behind the spokes to keep then concealed.

Static balance works to an extent, but it's just not as good as a dynamic.
