Hi!
I just bought my first Cav. I've always liked the looks of these cars and finally found a good deal on one.
I hope not boring or annoying you all with dumb noob questions, but here goes:
This car is for my daughter to drive. She likes the stock 7 slot wheel covers, but they are damaged. I see new replicas for this car on Ebay. They are cheap and I suspect they are of crap quality.
Most of these listings say will fit Cavs with hubcaps that aren't held on by the lugs. Why is this and is there something about this type of wheel that prevents normal hubcaps from fitting? Can she just use some generic covers that are available at discount stores? Need new lugnuts maybe?
This car has 15" wheels with 195/65 15 tires. From what I've read here it appears that base coupes didn't come with 15" wheels and had smaller tires. Did somebody change the stockers for 15s or is the info I've seen wrong?
One more ez question. Will a 15" wheel with tire fit in the spare tire compartment? I have an extra unmounted tire and it looks like a very tight fit. I'm thinking if it were mounted it wouldn't fit. Anybody know? How about a 14?
Again sorry about these dumbass questions. I'm still learning and the longer we have this car the more I'm finding to like about it! FSM ordered, hopefully won't be posting too many more of these beginner questions.
Thanks!
Mike

the ones on ebay probably just snap on. you can go to pep boys or autozone and they sell ones that are held on by the lug nuts
as for the 15" my car is a base (base of the base lol) and its a coupe and i had 15" steelies. the z24s and ls sports came w/ 16s
as for the spare tire i doubt it will fit because its so skinny
full siz spare will kinda fit , the floor piece will sit up a inch or 2 depending on the wheel tire size
ive got a 205/55/16 for a spare in my cav , it barely fits in the well , and the cover sits up about 2-3 inches , ive got a wide spoke wheel to clear my big brakes
as far as the hub caps go its best to toss them in the trash and get a aftermarket aluminum wheel , when i had hub caps they made gawd awfull noises , the outter ring on the hub caps rubs the wheel , i even went as far as taping the wheels and hub cap , that helped , but still made noises
Cool, now I just got to cross reference your tire size against mine and see if the diameter is the same or smaller.
Alum wheels would be nice, I like 5 spokes myself, but this is the kids first car. Fancy wheels will have to wait. The stock caps on the steelies aren't a prob, cept they aren't in the greatest shape. Looking for a cheap way to dress it up. If I could find 2-3 stock caps in good shape she'd be happy.
I'm really curious why aftermarket wheel cover supposedly won't fit this car. I'm guessing the lug nuts are too long/deep?

Well if you wanted check out around here for some rims. Most of the time either a set of Z24 rims or LS rims (16's) go up for sell from 200 to 400. Some of the cheaper ones either have bad tires, or have a little road rash. Just make sure to get pic's before buying.
they hub caps that dont have lug nut holes will fit fine, deepending on the construction of them. they need to come out and away from the wheel to fit properly so the hub caps dont get stopped from being put on with the lug nuts. scrap yards are good for stock replacements, but can be pricey.

Injection is nice but id rather be BLOWN!
You might also check ebay for cavi hubcaps and wheels. I bought a set of the BSA 17" rims there for a little over $200 new in the box. I know BSA had a problem with the center paint on my model, but for the price i'll repaint if i need to. I see a lot of Cavi hubcaps there, usually pretty cheap.
Don
Haven't had any luck with ebay. The used ones all look banged up and the so-called "stock" style new ones I have my doubts about.
Are the caps from AZ similar style to the stockers?
Yeah, I know rims is the way to go, but for hubcaps I kind of think the 7 slots look pretty good.

Thanks man. I guess be best to check with some local yards first so don't have to mess with shipping. Just need to get off my butt and start looking.
