Ok, I gave the GTP to the GF a couple weeks ago, but with winter coming I need to get a set of winter tires and rims for it.
The stock size is 225/60/r16, and I when I was looking I saw I can get a set of 215/75/r15 for about $150 cheaper for both the rims and the tires.
The outside dimensions of the tires are very close, but I am not sure how far I can be out. Will these work? Or should I just get the stock size to be sure? I mean it's not much, but $150 is $150.
Thanks.

Can you get 195/75R15's in that wheel and tire package?
I am sure I can, but will those be tall and wide enough?

thats the stock size for a base model j body
The 15" OD equivilent for that size is 205/70R15... but why sould you want to downgrade to a smaller size? 215/75R15 is way too tall, by the way, that is almost a truck size (stock size on a GMC/Chevy Safari/Astro).
I just think it's stupid to go cheap on wheels and tires... what's the point in getting wheels and tires if the only reason why you are is to save money over the ones you want? You want to look good or be happy, get what you want. $150 isn't that much just save up for another week or two.
The 215/75/R15 would look a little strange on a GTP, in my opinion. The 215/75/R15 would have an overall 1.1 inch greater height than the 225/60/R16. This would result in a speedo and odometer error of a little over 4%. So when your speedo says 60, your are really going about 62.5. Also, the larger diameter will effectively lower your final drive ratio. If your final drive ratio is 3.00, the larger tires will effectively lower that to 2.87. This might improve your gas mileage slightly but reduce performance. I have that same size tire on my Silverado and I can't imagine it looking or performing well on a GTP. Just my 2 cents.
